A Court in Zimbabwe has overturned a police ban on the opposition´s main pre-election rally ahead of Friday's presidential run-off. The MDC rally will be held in the capital Harare on Sunday. Police had banned the rally on Tuesday without giving a reason. The authorities have banned a series of opposition rallies in the run-up to the vote. The MDC also says at least 70 of its supporters have been killed by government supporters over the past three months. MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai has been arrested five times. The MDC says the violence and intimidation mean the ballot will be little more than a charade. The party will decide on Monday whether Mr Morgan will still contest the election. ... Zimbabwe's Supreme Court has ruled that the opposition is allowed to stage political meetings ahead of the presidential elections. On Friday, police banned all political gatherings and marches in four major suburbs of the capital Harare. On 27 June, opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai will face President Robert Mugabe in the second round of the presidential elections. Earlier this week, he was detained twice but on both occassions released after just a few hours. Fourteen members of his MDC party were arrested without any reason being given. The MDC says its fears for the security of its members. According to the opposition party, they are being harassed by the authorities to prevent Mr Tsvangirai winning the elections. ...
