I have been a Host Gator re-seller for a year or so now and I usually don't need to contact customer support very often as I tend to try to figure out things on my own first, and I usually assume that the problem is my fault. About a week ago I decided to begin re-building a client site using a... ...

Many movie critics compared 300 to a videogame when it came out in 2007, but now it seems its director, Zack Snyder, is making the leap in-full. Variety's The Cut Scene blog reports that Snyder has signed a deal with Electronic Arts to make three original games, much like the deal EA signed with Steven Spielberg in 2005 (that has so far resulted in Boom Blox ). As part of the deal, EA will retain full ownership of whatever games Snyder comes up with, and may even work with Snyder's production company, Cruel & Unusual Films, to adapt some or all of his games to the silver screen. As for what these games will be, however, is still unknown -- Variety reports that the deal has only just recently closed, and Snyder and EA have yet to settle on an idea for the first title. "Zack Snyder has a fresh and bold creative style that resonates with our core audience," said EA Games label president Frank Gibeau in a statement. But as The Cut Scene rightly points out, putting the name of a famous director on a game's box rarely assures retail success -- Boom Blox received rave reviews but was met with modest sales , and John Woo's Stranglehold didn't light the world on fire (and then shoot and collapse a large neon sign onto it), either. It'll be interesting to see if Snyder's games perform any better. ...

Filed under: Business After you sign Steven Spielberg to develop video games with your company, what's the next step? Scorcese? Zombie Orson Welles? Nope, not even close. EA announced this morning that it just signed a three-game development deal with Zack Snyder, the man behind 300 and the upcoming adaptation of Watchmen . Snyder will work in conjunction with EA Los Angeles , the same house currently toiling with Spielberg on its next critical darling. There's no word on what sort of games he'll be making, but if he dips into the Zack Snyder back catalog , we'd like to humbly suggest a balls-out Dawn of the Dead game over an adaptation of Morissey's "Tomorrow."   Read  |  Permalink  |  Email this  |  Linking Blogs  |  Comments ...

"300" director Zack Snyder is getting the "Steven Spielberg deal" at Electronic Arts. As this story in today's Daily Variety explains, Snyder (right) is creating three original videogames that will be made at EA's Los Angeles studio. I'm calling it the "Spielberg deal" since it's the exact same agreement that the legendary director made with EA three years ago. The first result of that pact was the critically reverered "Boom Blox." The second, a sci-fi title about a secret agent and an android, still doesn't have a release date. EA will retain full ownership of the properties developed with Snyder, but will work with him and his production company Cruel & Unusual Films to potentially adapt some or all of the games as movies. My understanding is that Snyder still hasn't even come up with his first game with EA (or at least both sides haven't settled on an idea), since the deal literally just closed. But given EA's huge emphasis on creating new IP, and Snyder's appeal to the core young male demo after "300," the deal does make some sense. On the other hand, there's no real example yet of a Hollywood director whose name has led to huge videogame sales ("Stranglehold" wasn't a monster hit and neither was "Boom Blox"). And, although it's early and nobody really knows anything yet, there certainly is mixed buzz in Hollywood on "Watchmen." It could be great, but it might not. If it's not, I wonder if that will hurt his standing amongst t ...

After the Watchmen preview yesterday, IESB spoke to Zack Snyder , asking him about the 300 prequel/sequel that was supposedly in the works. Surprisingly, he had a little input on it! Snyder says that the film will be sort of a prequel AND a sequel, taking place in the year between the end of the Battle of Thermopylae and the Battle of Plataea, which is the massive battle between Xerxes' Persians and 10,000 Spartans PLUS 30,000 Greeks. This technically makes it a sequel; we only saw but a slight glimpse at that last battle and this will pick up after the core story of the first film ended. This is both really good news and really bad news [...] ...

Move over Steven Spielberg! There's now another Hollywood movie director in the EA stable. Zack Snyder, the filmmaker behind 300 and The Watchmen adaptations, has signed a three game deal with EA much like the Spielberg deal. The company will retain full ownership of the Snyder-developed titles, Variety reports, but EA will also work with him to possibly bring the games to the silver screen. Since the deal has literally just been closed, Snyder apparently hasn't even come up with the first game yet. Imagine it'll be a while before we see anything on these titles.
