In the latest Bungie Update they talk about a new update coming to Halo. Items of note are: rank changes, new achievements, and a lock down on Cheaters. But in true blog fashion I'll just repost what Bungie wrote. Inevitably, this will be blown out of context, misread and misunderstood, but let’s do it anyway. For a number of reasons ranging from obvious to sublime, Title Update 2 (which is the new, hip, Xbox 360-version way of saying “Auto Update” or “Patch”), introduces new Achievements to Halo 3. Last weekend at Penny-Arcade Expo we played Assembly on the TU2, which meant that folks would see and buzz about the new achievements. These will be made LIVE when TU2 turns on later this month - the previously announced date may slip a bit closer to the Halo 3 one-year anniversary. Here’s a look at these achievements which can be earned via the Legendary Maps and Halo 3 Campaign: Vidmaster Challenge: Lightswitch (0 points) – Get to the rank of Lieutenant in any playlist in the new EXP progression system. Vidmaster Challenge: 7 on 7 (0 points) – Enter into any ranked or social playlist with 7 EXP on the 7th of the month. Vidmaster Challenge: Annual (0 points) – After 9/25/08, complete Halo on 4-player Legendary LIVE co-op, with Iron, and everyone in Ghosts. Double Double (25 points) – On a Legendary map, get two Double Kills during any ranked or social match. Poor Yorick (25 points) – On a Legendary map, get 3 Oddball melee kills during any r ... So I'm not new here, but it was so long ago since I joined I forgot my former account name, password, even the email account I probably used had been deleted. At any rate I am back. But it's not all good tidings, because I recently walked in on my boyfriend making out with my ex. I bailed because there was no way I was going to put up with that. But I am hoping that in my return to the gaming world, which I had previously left to manage my relationship with Alex, that I can make a lot more friends and maybe even get an online relationship or something sparked up so that I can forget about him and get passed with minimal pain. And I definately enjoyed my revenge, he is having a very complicated relationship with his right hand according to his new Facebook page. So I'm going to be playing Call of Duty 4 on Xbox 360 for god knows how long. Hit me up with a message or an invite to a game or whatever. Did you use the Fable II Pub Games glitch to rack up an obscene amount of dough? Fable II creator Peter Molyneux says that you're in for a "surprise." Following its hands-on with Fable II and a chat with Molyneux, IGN reports: "Molyneux has said that the cheat was no accident and that those who used it to earn their money will be in for a surprise." The Fable II Pub Games glitch allows players to abuse one of the downloadable casino-style mini-games that are currently available on Xbox LIVE , by betting big money while risking only a tiny amount. The gold that players win in the mini-games will be transferred over to the main Fable II game when it is released next month. Question for Fable fans: Has the glitch been patched? I can't find any definitive statements on this. Question for Fable fans, ii: Do you believe that Molyneux really put this glitch in the game as a sly test of players' morals, or is he just providing a convenient excuse for a glaring flaw? If Lionhead really, truly put this cheat into the game to catch Cheaters in the act and leave repercussions on their Fable II experience, that's awesome. But it's equally as likely, in my opinion, that the Fable II maker just screwed up. Either way, the fact that Cheaters will get their due in the full game is interesting. Filed under: News Mercenaries 2: World in Flames will be receiving it's first ever title update on Monday, October 13th with the release of a "Total Payback" update that's aimed at connecting gamers from around the world, adding more variety and enabling Cheaters to, well ... cheat. The Total Payback update will add an additional six characters to the Mercenaries 2 mix, give players the ability to enter cheats and (this one's a biggie) enable cross-region support of Xbox LIVE multiplayer. Huzzah! Again, this is an update, meaning it'll be applied instantly and for free come October 13th. Also, Pandemic revealed that they'll be releasing the first set of Mercs 2 downloadable content sometime this November. So, keep an eye out for that. Yup, tricked and by Lionhead themselves. How so? Well, according to IGN and their discussion with Peter Molyneux during a recent Fable 2 hands on event, Molyneux made it clear that the Pub Games exploit was intentionally added. GASP! Molyneux goes on to warn those who cheated that they'll be in for a surprise when launching Fable 2 . What sort of surprise? We dunno, but we're thinking it may have to do with that whole "good vs. evil" thing. Maybe Cheaters will be jailed, lashed with a leather whip and forced to eat cabbage for seven days and seven nights. Oh we can't WAIT to see what's in store for Cheaters! Like all software, there is usually some obscure glitch that can be exploited that results in benefits for the end user. Castle Crashers has the boomerang, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune had invisible boundaries that enemies cannot see through, and Fable II Pub Games Fortune's Tower has the max bet glitch. This little gem has been used to net quite a few people a significant fortunate that will greet them in the full retail release. After its discovery, it was said that the bug would be patched. No sooner than that was announced, Peter Molyneux quashed the "fix" stating that the glitch was implemented intentionally. Hey, what fun is gambling if you can't cheat no? Well, I guess the rest of the company didn't see it that way. The "fix" was implemented anyway. A newly released patch removes the money making exploit. As an additional re-balancing maneuver the Xbox LIVE leaderboards are being wiped. Word of advice to the want to be Cheaters: If you want to do this, I recommend disconnecting your network cable to prevent the update from going through.
