Anticipated platformer gets updated release date from Indie developers Polytron. Last year GameSpot nominated Braid and World of Goo as a contenders for its game of the year awards . The games were developed by indie developers, and despite the smaller teams behind them, both were a massive critical success. Braid was even nominated for Best Game Design, Best Writing, Best Debut, Innovation, and Best Downloadable Game categories in this year's GDC awards . All of which goes to show that a great game doesn't necessarily have to cost $60 million in order to be a success. Aww isn't he cute? Now the rise of the indie game continues, as the highly anticipated platformer Fez has been given a rough release date of 2010, and a new platform on which to win fans. The date and confitmation that the title was coming to the Xbox Live Arcade was announced on developer Polytron's blog , though details on the expected PC version were not forthcoming. Fez is a platformer built entirely using Microsoft's XNA tools and takes the idea of a 2D platformer and turns it on its head. It adds a third dimension and the ability to rotate the game world around playable character Gomez. The game also has a unique retro 8-bit pixel art style, along with a suitably retro soundtrack. Almost all of them are programmed in Linux for Linux... with the Windows port being an after thought (nice too see how things have reversed). Tux Games is a great supplier of commercial games with NATIVE LINUX PORTS!!!!! ...
