I recently installed SLED 10 on a Dell XPS M1710 which has a Nvidia GeForce Go7950 GTX video card. While the card is functional I am not getting the functionality I want: 1. I set the resolution to 1900 x 1200 (which the SaX2 X11 Config accepts) but the resolution I get is 1600 x 1200. 2. I have a Gateway LP2407 external monitor. When I try and configure it for cloned Desktops I get similar resolution issues (seems to default to 2560 x 2048, but the monitor is optimized for 1900 x 1200. 3. My real objective is to have both monitors running at 1900 x 1200 in dual head Xinerama extended desktop. When I was running Vista, I had no trouble achieving this configuration with the same equipment so I know its possible. Any recommendations people might have that would put me on the right path to correcting this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Hagen Finley Boulder, CO ... Filed under: Desktops , Laptops We sort of figured Dell's Studio branding would come to the XPS line sooner or later -- the family resemblance between the Studio laptops and the XPS m1330 and m1530 is hard to ignore, after all -- and it looks like we don't have much longer to wait, if you believe these slides discovered by Jayson in the NotebookReview forums. The Studio XPS 13 and 16, due in November, will be Intel Centrino 2-based machines with hybrid SLI support, slot-loading Blu-ray drives, edge-to-edge glass displays with optional LED backlighting, backlit keyboards, and WiMAX and UWB support. We're digging the funky woodgrain on the Studio XPS 16, but it'll be interesting to see how much these cost if and when they hit -- the Studio line was supposed to sit in between the Inspiron and XPS lines, so we're hoping these'll also come in below the current XPS price tags.
