A former high-school Wrestler, he's been making the most of the chance to show his withering contempt for the other guy. At a town hall meeting on Friday in Wisconsin, McCain had taken a surprising tack. When a woman in the audience said that Barack Obama "is an Arab" (presumably meaning "Muslim"), McCain said it wasn't so. Responding to a questioner who was "scared" by Obama, McCain assured him, "Sen. Filed under: MMA Videos , UFC Heavyweight Shane Carwin , who will fight Neil Wain on Saturday at UFC 89 , talks about his preparation and his goals for the future: The 6-foot-3, 265-pound Carwin was an NCAA Division II wrestling champion and is now 9-0 in his professional mixed martial arts career. He says in the video that he's dreaming about being the UFC heavyweight champion. "That's the next dream to come true is to be able to get that shot, and when that comes I'll worry about that then, but right now I'll take advantage of the time that I have to keep on improving myself." For now, Carwin is, in addition to getting ready to fight Wain, sparring with Randy Couture to help Couture get ready for Brock Lesnar , who like Carwin is an enormous former college Wrestler. I could definitely see Carwin being a future heavyweight champ; he has all the physical tools. As of the last I heard, UFC is not planning to show the Carwin-Wain fight on the tape delay Spike TV broadcast Saturday night, but I hope they find time for it. She’s just 17 years old and is competing in her first World Championships. But that hardly stopped American Tatiana Padilla from putting on an impressive display of grit and resiliency on Monday night. Padilla rallied back in dominating fashion to record a fall over Romania’s Ana Maria Paval in a bronze-medal match at 55 kg/121 lbs. Padilla becomes the youngest U.S. World medalist since Kristie Marano won her first of a record nine World women’s freestyle medals as a 17-year-old in 1996. “I just hated the feeling of losing the match the way I did in the semifinals,” Padilla said. “I felt like I let myself down, I let my coaches down and I let my country down. I hate the feeling of letting people down. I decided to go out there and leave it all out on the mat in my last match. I had a lot of motivation to come back and win my last match. I didn’t want to come all the way over to Japan and go home with nothing. I’m happy. That’s not my goal, to take third, but I’m happy to come back from a tough loss and take third.” With her win, Padilla (Azusa, Calif./Sunkist Kids wrestling gear ) kept her team in fourth place in the final team standings. Photo: Getty Images Lately, the economic downturn is never far from our minds, and at last night's premiere of The Wrestler — a story about a pro Wrestler looking for his last shot — we found ourselves wondering if super-successful people, like director Darren Aronofsky, had ever been laid off or otherwise down on their luck. "I've been fired many, many times, and I've been told no many, many times, but I don't think layoffs were happening when I was first working," he told us as wife Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts chatted behind him. What was his first job? "I was working in the eighties for $3 or $4 [an hour]," he said. "My big job — I drove a gypsy cab in Brooklyn for a long time and that's how I used to make a lot of money as a kid," he said, smiling at the memory.
