Hi there I have searched for an answer but cannot find one on this forum...we are on a fixed Wireless ISP as we live in rural area. We have a dlink wbr 1310 router, and we have 2 Linksys sipura voip boxes,a Wireless desktop and laptop, and a Wireless printer. Our issues are quality of sound on the VOIP- I have done numerous tests re upload and download etc,... most of the time the jitter and packet loss is not bad, but its the QOS that is the issue. Should we be thinking about upgrading our router? One more thing - we have static IP form our ISP as without this the VOIP would'nt work at all.. Thanks ...

Apologies - please ignore this message (or please remove!). I had realized at the last second that I wrote "extreme" in my title when it should have been "express". I thought I caught it before it posted but I was wrong and now the same question is posted twice with different titles.... very sorry. ...

We live in a rural area and have fixed Wireless high speed Internet service. We used to be with a local company called Storm, but they sold their Wireless business to Xplornet. I have an iMac and have been using an Airport Express since day one of getting our Storm Internet service with no problems whatsoever. The day our service was switched to Xplornet, everything was working fine in the morning. Then they came and installed new equipment to switch over, and the Airport Express no longer works. I've tried everything I can think of including re-setting to factory settings and starting over. Nothing. The light on the Airport never turns green, so I guess it doesn't recognize that there is anything there at all. I'm very frustrated because I never wanted to be with this company in the first place. Any ideas? Thanks. ...

I am interested in starting a Wireless ISP on some islands in the Caribbean. I am only planning on targeting islands with a large population, and a healthy local economy. My question is, what are my options as to getting bandwidth. It looks as though the only one is satellite. So I was hoping to get some info and advice from those that have gone this route and if anyone knows what satellites are available in the southern Caribbean. ...

I posted a while ago about this situation. My internet is always running slowly. - most of the time connection strength is low with 11-18mbps - even when it says the connection is good or very good 36-54mbps it still goes extremely slow - every hour or so i'll get completely disconnected I have a belkin Wireless key 802.11 g and am on a secured network. I've tried all the most common solutions: - contacted ISP - restarted router - reinstalled key drivers None of these work. Also the modem is only a room away from my comp so I don't think it would be due to distance. Someone replied to me in my last post saying phones could have something to do with it. The only phones in the area are 5.8 Ghz and 900 mhz and I don't think these would affect it. When I hover over my connection icon, (bottom right) it says I am connection 16, but a few days ago it said 14 and before that 12... is this supposed to be happening. Also I'm wondering if high levels of download would cause this. I personally don't do any downloading but I'm not sure if any of the other 2 computers using the network do. (Either my landlord or room mate). Thanks for reading and for any suggestions you can offer. PS~ My original post on here seems to have vanished so that's why i've reposted this message ...

Trango dons a fresh new logo while also changing its name to its original incorporated name, "Trango Systems." The new modern brand identity better supports Trango's current course towards manufacturing licensed microwave Wireless equipment for the telecommunications carrier and operator markets, while also retaining and continuing its strong connection with its existing customers in the Wireless ISP, enterprise, and security video surveillance markets. Hello all, I have searched for many Wireless equipment websites, I couldn't find any good equipments to reach my requirements for my whole city about 20km from central. The thing is in my city there is no tall building that taller than my building. I choose the product from Netkrom.com and the product are: PRO-NAME AMOUNT PRICE TOTAL ISPAIR-500 Series 1 $1199.20 $1199.20 W24-17SP90 4 $200.80 $803.20 ISP-CPE500G 10 $159.20 $1592 ISP-CPE500GUHP 10 $239.20 $2392 CAT 5 UTP 2 $209.60 $419.20 RG8U/LMR-400 4 $23.20 $92.80 WAC-LA3G 4 $23.20 $92.80 ===================================================== $6591.20 For ISPAIR-500 It can cover over 32km or 20miles with W24-17SP90 90 degree of Antenna. The rest are CPE(s), Cable and Surge Protection. The question that I want to ask are: 1. Can you all give any suggestions on the quality of these equipments from netkrom? 2. Is this price too expensive or not according to my requirement? 3. Can you suggest any other equipments that you knew it as good quality that meet my requirements above and cheaper than netkrom equipments? (Please suggest only the product that can use without Frequency license such as Wi-Fi) Please help me work it out!!! Thanks Somvannda ...

So, I'm at my last strand with my current wisp. I've been researching the net and only found one other person (who posted here named Ksan01. If you still check this could you contact me by message?) using their services that's experiencing what I'm experiencing. We've had services with them for little over a year. It started out pretty much like Ksan01's post. Internet was extremely pleasing for being Wireless. Worked great with no real problems, then after a year or so connection speeds were becoming terrible and latency really high. As of the last month or so, it's gotten worse. Connection randomly dropping often no matter if we're active online or not. Speeds will often drag close to dialup speeds or test up to about 200kbps. We try and call the owner himself but apparently his favorite lines seem to be along the lines of "There's nothing wrong on our end. It shows you're connected." Any other ISP would assume that if their customer's not getting internet access then there is a problem SOME WHERE that needs to be addressed. This is especially the case you've been calling in multiple times and you're being told to reset try resetting the router. We called yesterday afternoon since sometime after the previous night we were pretty much down for quite some time. We were told that they were replacing a radio antenna so the net would be going up and down. It stayed down the entire night, but we still had the ISPs network information on o ...

Hi Everyone, I have an unusual problem. I'm spending extended periods of time in China due to business. The ISP here just started blocking internet access if you have more than 2 computers hooked up to the DSL connection. Basically, if a 3rd computer tries to access the web, it would either get a blank page, or one of your original 2 wouldn't be able to access the web. I searched for the answer and the consensus seems to be one or a combination of the following: 1. ISP tracks the mac address of http requests 2. They're using snmp info from the router or dsl modem 3. Some md5 modification/verification of the dialup software. 3rd one doesn't apply to me since I'm using a D-Link DI624 Rev. C Wireless router. I got a Sony & Acer laptop that I use regularly, but I also have a couple other devices that needs the internet. Based on one suggestion, I tried spoofing my Sony's MAC address to the same one as on the Acer using SMAC. But both computers were having trouble connecting via WLAN (WPA2-PSK). I have static IP/DNS on both laptops because sometimes it took a long time to connect under DHCP. Do I need to enable DHCP for both to connect to the WLAN with the same MAC address? Won't the router see a conflict w/ assigning 2 IPs to the same MAC address? I got conflicting info on whether the D-Link 624 has snmp or not. I can't find it any where in the menus, so I set a router firewall rule blocking all traffic in and out on UDP 161-162. But that ...

I have been trying to enable my PowerBook G4to access the internet wirelessly via Airport. I have contacted both MAC support and my ISP tech support, and each says it is the other's problem. In desperation, I decided to try to follow the instructions in my "Getting Started" manual which begin with accessing System Preferences and going to Network. However, when I access this, I get a pop down window that says "Your Network settings have been changed by another application." When I click on "OK" in that box, it keeps reappearing repeatedly. The only way to get rid of it is to shut down the system completely. Does anyone know how to delete this pop down box and any further instructions on how to make the Wireless connection work? I have been at this for hours and would be ever so grateful for some assistance. ...

HughesNet service is never going to get recommendations from me to anyone. I'd rather support dial-up as the alternative upgrade to this. In the last 24 hours, I have downloaded/uploaded a maximum of 150MB. I am subjected to the FAP as of 6 A.M. due to "technical difficulties" according to the customer service representative. They won't get it fixed until Monday. Monday is the day I get fixed Wireless service. I'm out of this nightmare. It'd be worth it for a lot of you living in the country to start a coop and get people involved to help pay to set up a fixed Wireless ISP for yourselves and your neighbors. You'll end up making a profit. ...

Hello all, this is a request for any owners of the Buffalo WMR-G54 to see if they have got a copy of any firmware for this device. I put the router away a couple of years ago when I changed ISP but have just dug it out to set up a test lab and it doesn't want to play. To start with it was only responding to 1 ping in 20 via LAN (no sign of any Wireless activity) so I did a factory reset. Now get a healthy response to a ping but I get prompted for a software update when I connect to its web server. I've spoken to Buffalo but they were unable to help, although they did send me a copy of the manual. Searched extensively using google and dogpile, but no luck (closest was a USB driver on a french site). Any chance someone has this? The name isn't a typo - it is WMR-G54. Possibly a UK exclusive. Many thanks. N ...

okay well, I've had this for a year now, and it just recently started to disconnect like crazy on me.... Just a little breakdown of my situation, I have a PPOE ISP and that's connected to my dir 625, which is connected to 1 hardwired computer, 1 Wireless computer, 1 Wireless laptop, Wireless wii, and a hardwired PS3... I am currently hardwired to my modem because due to the router I will only be able to surf for less then 1 min, without it disconnecting.... I have the latest firmware 1.09a. Also I've check the logs when it would disconnect, I'll have probably 10-15 lines of it blocking TCP/UDP and sometimes ICMP or something like that, but I figured that's normal for a router. Called DLink support they pretty much ran through a load of bullshit and told me to observe and they made it worse.. eg not even being able to connect to the internet. I've tried to reset my router also to default, still does the same issue. Basically I need help =( ...
