I installed a new Wireless router after my cable modem, I have had rcn static IP service for over a year now and no problems with the static IP whatsoever till I upgraded to a new Wireless router. The static IP changed last night when I made the equipment change to another IP, but hours now later after waking up this morning my static IP is now to the initial static IP. Will I still keep my initial static IP I've had or will it revert to another one? I know the static IP is based on the first device mac address RCN see's, that's why I got that other IP with the equipment change, but now I see I have my original static IP back. Just confused and if anyone can help clear this up, it would be great. ... Source: www.prweb.com --- 26 days ago
HauteSpot Networks Corporation (www.hautespot.net) has released a new Wireless protocol, implemented on their HauteWRAP family of Wireless routers, which is optimized specifically for multipoint to point IP video surveillance. The protocol is similar to ATM and uses polling instead of CSMA/CA to slot time to each node in a Wireless network. This results in outstanding video performance, network scalability, and reliability for IP cameras, video encoders, and other streaming media applications. Voice over Wireless Lan should enjoy better quality following IEEE ratification of the 802.11r standard which was released in July with little fanfare. Enterprises currently dissatisfied with Wireless IP telephony should think again, according to the IEEE, since the 802.11r standard will allow Wi-Fi kit to roam much more quickly between access points than current 802.11a/b/g/n hardware. Such an improvement would benefit VoIP calls being made through Wireless networks, as well as video conferencing. View: The full story @ vnunet Read full story... ... Today, the European Parliament will debate, in plenary session, the so-called EU Telecoms Reform. On 13 November 2007, the European Commission had proposed to the European Parliament and the Council of Telecoms Ministers to reform the EU Telecoms rules (in place since 2003) to reinforce competition and investment and to create a Single Telecoms Market in the EU with innovative cross-border services and Wireless high-speed broadband for all (IP/07/1677). Following an intense debate and many hearings, the European Parliament's Industry, Research and Energy Committee (ITRE) and the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee (IMCO) voted on amendments on 7 July (MEMO/08/491). The debate in the European Parliament's plenary with its 785 members is expected to pave the way for a vote on the Commission's entire EU Telecoms reform proposals in first reading on 23 September. Depending on the outcome of the vote and the discussions in the Council of Telecoms Ministers of 27 November, a political agreement on the final legislative texts could be achieved between the three institutions by the end of the year. The new regulatory framework would then become the law in all 27 EU Member States by 2010. ... Source: www.dslreports.com --- 3 days ago
My brother in-law called me to tell me he's having problems with his Intel C2D MacBook purchased in November of last year. Apparently its having DHCP issues where it loses its DHCP settings every few minutes. The only way(s) to get back online is to release/renew the IP every time it occurs. This occurs on both the wired and Wireless network connections on his college campus. Anyone have any ideas what this could be? I told him to take it to his nearest Apple repair center since he does have AppleCare. ...
