I am venturing into the arena of Windows CE 6.0 development using the .NET 3.5 CF and I am having a problem getting my deployed image to connect to my .NET CF application for debugging. We are using a Kontron MopsLcdLx single board computer. Let me give you a rundown of what I've done and how I've configured my image in PB6.0. In the NK.bin image for the SBC, I've included the following to support Networking with TCP/IP: 1. Device Drivers->Networking->Local Area Networking (LAN) Devices - NE2000-compatible 2. CEBASE->Communications Services and Networking->Networking-General - TCP/IP 3. CEBASE->Communications Services and Networking->Networking-General - Network Utilities 4. Third Party->Device Drivers->Kontron - Kontron Fixed IP 89.0.0.222 5. Third Party->Device Drivers->Kontron - Kontron TCP/IP Connect Transport (conmanclient2) When the image starts up, I can use ipconfig /all and see that the IP address has been setup correctly. In addition, when my secondary ethernet adapter from my development desktop is connected via a crossover cable to the Kontron SBC it recognizes that it is connected to a network. I can't ping between the two computers but I think that is related to not having KITL setup correctly with the VMINI driver. Is there anything else I am missing or doing incorrectly? So in VS2005 under Target->Connectivity Options->Core Services Settings I have the "Enable KITL on device boot" box checked. In addition under Target->C ... Hello, I've hit a couple of problems trying to port some C++ code from Win32 (currently it runs on XP) to Embedded CE 6.0. I'm using VS 2005. I've googled some of the topics and have concluded that CE support is absent for some of the things in my code. I get some compilation and link errors. Here goes: 1) Is there no support for errno? 2) Is there no support for bsearch? 3) How about sys/types.h? 4) I hit an error trying to compile a statement using vsnprintf. When compiling this code for win32, I get the following message: warning C4996: '_vsnprintf' was declared deprecated 1> c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 8\vc\include\stdio.h(339) : see declaration of '_vsnprintf' 1> Message: 'This function or variable may be unsafe. Consider using _vsnprintf_s instead. To disable deprecation, use _CRT_SECURE_NO_DEPRECATE. See online help for details.' But if I try to compile the same code for CE I get the following error: error C2065: '_vsnprintf_instead_use_StringCbVPrintfA_or_StringCchVPrintfA' : undeclared identifier OK, I got around this by coding the following line in a header file : #define _vsnprintf_instead_use_StringCbVPrintfA_or_StringCchVPrintfA "DO NOT REMOVE: vsnprintf deprecated" but I'd rather not have to work around what appears to be a compiler issue. OK, so what gives with errno, bsearch, and sys/types.h? And what else is lurking out there? Is there a summary of issues one should look out for when porting from win32 to C ... Hewlett-Packard has announced a broad sweep of new virtualization products along with survey results claiming that most businesses aren't making the most of what the technology has to offer. The products include a ProLiant blade server "built from the ground up" for virtualization, four thin-client computers for virtualizing desktops, new equipment for virtualizing storage and some consulting services. [ Stay up to date on the latest virtualization developments with InfoWorld's Virtualization Report blog and newsletter . ] Virtualization is most widely used today for consolidating servers in data centers, which can help cut costs and reduce energy use. HP is trying to sell the technology as a way to make businesses more competitive, by freeing up IT resources that can be repurposed quickly to create new services. "Today, many companies are focused only on how virtualization reduces cost; we believe it enables much more," said Ann Livermore, head of HP's Technology Solutions Group, in a video on HP's Web site. On the desktop, HP is trying to push virtualization beyond call centers and into offices, for use by business analysts, engineers and even financial traders. It announced four thin-client PCs that will ship in October, two with its ThinConnect operating system, one with Windows CE and one with Windows XP Embedded.
