Interesting - and I'm not being sarcastic, here: it is interesting, and I've had to do the same thing myself - how five minutes of conversation turns into a couple of paragraphs . I have no complaints about the article, by the way: the text was fair and the guy who wrote it was both polite and friendly. No gotchas. It is not enough that the family of Tim McLean has to deal with the realities of his murder but now have to endure the disgusting behaviour of others exploiting the situation for their own disturbing reasons. First it was the organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, commonly known as PETA, attempting to obtain advertising space in a Portage, Manitoba newspaper with the objective of comparing McLean’s gruesome murder to how animals are treated. Thankfully, the publisher of that newspaper told PETA to take a hike. Now, it seems the Westboro Baptist Church wants to demonstrate at McLean’s funeral to say that his murder was God’s way of expressing disapproval with Canada’s policies enabling abortion, homosexuality and adultery. Members of this Church have been already branded as a hate group and are well known in the United States for their protests at the funerals for slain U.S. soldiers. While we are fortunate to live in a society that welcomes free speech, it is quite repulsive to know that some people have no boundaries of decency in respecting that privilege.
