Yahoo Buzz is opening its doors to all Publishers. Yahoo said that Web Publishers from large players to the niche blogs will be able to add content to Buzz via simple code. Meanwhile, Yahoo says that any page on the Web can be added to Buzz. That addition means that Web pages that theoretically aren't in a news or blog format can be submitted as notable content. The update to Buzz, which is being rolled out tonight, may be an interesting experiment. For instance, Buzz today favors select Publishers, but beginning tomorrow perhaps research papers, patent filings and Twitter messages could be added. Buzz, which has given Digg a run for its money, will have more updates "over the next... ...

Web Publishers Get Just-In-Time Inventory To Increase Their Reach New York, April 29, 2008 -- ContextWeb, Inc., a leading contextual advertising company and operator of the ADSDAQ Exchange, today announced that it has launched a reach extension program for Web Publishers that will enable them to get additional, targeted reach for specific campaigns. The Reach Extension Program helps Publishers add extensive, targeted reach with ADSDAQ's page-specific targeting to both existing advertiser campaigns and to help pitch larger advertising programs upfront. The program eliminates inventory holding cost for Publishers and is essentially risk-free, as Publishers buy on the exchange only when they have a specific need for additional audience and content. ...

Yahoo Buzz is now open to all Publishers and Web sites. Yahoo announced that any Yahoo user can now "buzz up" any content from any publisher on the Web. In an article in BussinessWeek, Sarah Lacy makes some good points, she also seems less than well informed about publishing reality. What is upsetting about this sort of article is that it is in a highly reputable magazine that would never publish advice from anyone so under-informed in almost any other industry. Only publishing. Read the [...] ...

2008-09-04: The Semantic Web Deployment Working Group and XHTML2 Working Group have published the Proposed Recommendation of RDFa in XHTML: Syntax and Processing. The modern Web is made up of an enormous number of documents that have been created using HTML. These documents contain significant amounts of structured data, which is largely unavailable to tools and applications. When Publishers can express this data more completely, and when tools can read it, a new world of user functionality becomes available, letting users transfer structured data between applications and Web sites, and allowing browsing applications to improve the user experience. RDFa is a specification for attributes to express structured data in any markup language. The group has published an implementation report as part of the Candidate Recommendation phase. Comments are welcome through 03 October. Learn more about the Semantic Web. (Permalink) ...
