As Tunison mentioned in his Maddenpalooza wrap-up earlier today, Warren Sapp is not a man who likes to have his picture taken at a media-related event unless he specifically grants you permission to do so. Ape wasn't the only one who received the hulking stare-down from Sapp yesterday, as the First Cut crew received similar treatment. As did ESPN's John Dorsey . On top of all of that, Sapp's appearance on yesterday's NFL Live show was a little unnerving. Imagine Emmitt Smith and Charles Barkley spliced together. Then put that thing on adderall. He rattled on about Favre's "PCP" said something about Favre going "balls to the wall" and then made the always charming armpit-of-America statements about New Jersey and Oakland. Sure, Sapp's always had that gregariousness about him and has been somewhat of a showman (he was on Punk'd, for crap's sake), but yesterday all told it appears he was a little off. Maybe he's pissed that he hasn't landed a higher profile television gig like some of his other retired cohorts? Or he just didn't like dicking around with a bunch of gamers and bloggers on a gorgeous LA afternoon. I guess plenty of people would want to start choking people if they were handed a similar fate. Warren Sapp: Not A Fan Of Photographs [First Cut] ...

Filed under: Sports , Celebrities , Reality-Free Will Warren Sapp get that slot on Dancing with the Stars like he predicted? We won't know till next Monday when ABC makes the live announcement on Good Morning America . However, the former defensive lineman for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders has landed a new TV job. Sapp is joining Inside the NFL on Showtime , taking a seat beside fellow former NFL players Cris Collinsworth and Phil Simms, as well as CBS broadcaster James Brown. As a player, Sapp was a force to be reckoned with, albeit as a run stopper in the middle of the line. He also has a reputation for being savvy and a big time talker, a guy who has an opinion about everything and anything. Hmm...smart and loud. That will probably make him a real asset on Inside the NFL . In fact, he might have some of NBA commentator Charles Barkley's charismatic appeal. Michael Strahan could re-join Giants, according to report. Retired NFL defensive end Michael Strahan could become a member of the Super Bowl champ Giants again, reports the New York Daily News. The paper cites a source said to be close to the Pro Bowler in its article that came after defensive end Osi Umenyiora suffered a season-ending knee injury this past weekend. Strahan currently has a position as a Fox studio analyst. While on vacation in Europe, the popular retiree would only say that he hasn’t been contacted about the possibility of re-joining his old squad: “I haven’t heard from anybody else, so to say if I would or wouldn’t is premature. So I’m enjoying my retired life right now.” Team co-owner Steve Tisch tells the New York Post that he’d “absolutely” like for Strahan to wear a uniform again in ’08. Maurice Greene, Warren Sapp will dance “With Stars.” Former Olympic sprinter Maurice Greene and rotund, retired NFL tackle Warren Sapp will shake it up – but, hopefully, not together – on the new season of “Dancing With the Stars.” Sapp, a Super Bowl winner with Tampa Bay, and Greene, a gold medalist in the 100-meter dash at the 2000 Games in Athens have signed on, along with singer Toni Braxton and others to compete in choreographed routines before a live audience. The new season’s lineup was announced Monday and will begin airing on ABC at 8 p.m. Sept. 22. ...

This year is the 20th anniversary of John Madden football and to commemorate this historic occasion, the folks at EA Sports held a "MaddenPalooza" event in Los Angeles. Deadspin dispatched Michael Tunison to cover some of the sights, sounds, and overall geekiness. This is his second dispatch from the Rose Bowl festivities. Enjoy . More » I'm sitting in the VIP green room next to the visitor's locker room in the Rose Bowl listening to Deion Sanders, Marcus Allen and Ronnie Lott casually chat about world travel. I'm not supposed to be in here, but I'm not doing anything to draw attention to myself and it seems to be working. Or they don't care. Either way, I'm doing this in hopes of pulling some sort of interesting bloggy tidbit because, even though it's early in the day, Maddenpalooza is already shaping up to be a pretty dull, overly orchestrated, sparsely attended clunker. "Every time I see this guy, I gotta ask what country he's coming from," Deion tells Ronnie of Marcus. Apparently Marcus Allen has something of a penchant for international travel, and has recently returned from China. He explains how much easier it is traveling as a single guy without the encumbrances of significant others who you must coordinate plans with and wait while they trowel on their clown makeup. This segues into a story about Marcus and Ronnie visiting Russia that somehow humorously ends with Lott being passed out in a limo. Hahahaha! We're all impos ...

We don't know yet for sure whether former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive star, paranoiac, Florida native and all around irritant Warren Sapp is joing the cast of Dancing With the Stars, but we do know one place sports fans can tune for his anctics: Showtime's revamped version of Inside the NFL. Showtime snagged the program when HBO let it go -- leading some sports media experts to wonder why a premiumcable channel known for Dexter and boxing matches would bother airing NFL chatter fans will probably hear first on ESPN. But making a success of Inside the NFL is yet another way Showtime can prove the coolness torch has passed their way from former "it" channel HBO, so Sapp now has another regular media gig. I hope his dissection of other players' performances makes more sense than some of the tales he told reporters about his own efforts ... Click below for the release: NEW YORK, NEW YORK  – (August 19, 2008) – Former NFL All-Pro defensive lineman and Super Bowl champion Warren Sapp will join analysts Phil Simms and Cris Collinsworth and host James Brown to complete an all-star lineup on INSIDE THE NFL when the series launches this September on SHOWTIME.  The announcement was made today by Matthew C. In a Q&A with Warren Sapp , the recently retired NFL player, the St. Petersburg Times stumbles into some reality TV news: Sapp has been asked to appear on Dancing with The Stars 7 . In the interview, he said, "I might do that Dancing With the Stars. ... it's something that sort of came out of nowhere. But I enjoy the idea of training for something else. My whole life has been football. I could hang out in L.A. for a few weeks. My daughter would love it. There's nothing wrong with my smile. I don't think I speak Ebonics. I think I will (do the show)." Perhaps because the new season is still a few months off, there hasn't been much news about who might appear, beyond Paula Abdul's expression of interest .
