Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise , the handheld version of the sugary-sweet life simulation, will hit your Nintendo DS on September 2, developer Rare has revealed. Alongside the announcement, Rare has released the second video in their series of Viva Pinata ads that directly parody Halo 3's "Believe" ad campaign. Like the first ad , this one relies on out of place stoicism and adorable creatures juxtaposed with somber aesthetics and maudlin aural cues. The concept is ridiculous, but the satire is so cleverly implemented that I can't help but giggle at each and every one. The latest Viva Pinata trailer, dubbed "Believa Pinata," is pure sarcastic genius. Blatantly cribbing from the famed "Believe" ad for Halo 3 , the camera pans and swoops in slow motion through a diorama of very surprised looking Pinatas and a number of gratuitous explosions -- all while the somber melody from "Believe" provides a totally inappropriate mood to the proceedings. It's not complex, it's not hyperactive and by relying on previously famous media, it refuses to pander to the theoretically ignorant mainstream. Simple near-sardonic wit wins the day. ...
