Funeral services for Mr. Telman "Wayne" Blevins will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Fairview Baptist Church, Violet Hill, Arkansas, with Reverend Brian Harvison officiating. Interment will be at Violet Hill Cemetery, Violet Hill, Arkansas, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville. Mr. Blevins, age 69, of Bentley, entered eternal rest on Saturday, August 30, 2008, at his residence in Bentley. He was a native of Violet Hill, Arkansas. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran for twelve years, serving in the Vietnam War. He was a retired appliance repairman for Ray's Appliance for 32 years. In his leisure time he loved reading, flying, taking pictures and watching western movies. Mr. Blevins is preceded in death by his parents, Bryan and Alverda Blevins; one grandson, Caleb Scott Blevins; one daughter-in- law, Lisa Ann Blevins. Mr. Blevins is survived by one son, Stephen Blevins of Tioga; one daughter, Stephanie Simmons and husband Dain of Bentley; one brother, Lindle Blevins and wife Carolyn of Violet Hill, Arkansas; two sisters, Carolyn Gillihan of Melbourne, Arkansas, Beverly Glasser and husband Don of Melbourne, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Dainey Simmons, David Simmons, Curtis LaCombe, Daina Simmons, Dustin Simmons and Tyler Blevins. Coldplay have crowned their comeback by leading the field in the shortlist for this years Q Awards as the nominees were announced today. Among their haul of four nominations in the annual celebration of the years greatest music is a chance of winning the title of Best Act In The World Today, a prize they last won in 2005 as they basked in the glory of X&Y. To land the trophy in 2008 they face competition from Oasis, Muse, Metallica and Kings of Leon. Coldplay also compete in the prized Best Album category for their global chart-topping album Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends as well as Best Track and Best Video for Violet Hill. The bands fourth release lines up against self-titled albums by Fleet Foxes and Vampire Weekend as well as The Age Of The Understatement by The Last Shadow Puppets and Dig!!! From first spin of Viva La Vida... , "Lost" has been my personal favorite, mixing just the right portions of Peter Gabriel and U2 to move the arenas they so badly want to move. Although when I saw the band at MSG , my brother turned to me and said "Hey, that's a pretty sweet organ line ... that nobody in the band is playing ." It was a pretty sweet ZING, and I'm having flashbacks to it watching the track's official "live" video which wasn't recorded at the Garden but may as well have been since they never change their clothes (zang). After the relatively high concept clips for " Viva La Vida " and " Violet Hill ," a concert clip is welcome, especially since this is better than your average concert clip because of the cracked-out camera zooms and super high-def closeups. ...
