You can have the look. You can talk the talk. For 40 minutes you can walk the walk. As the Chicago Bears' defense has shown two weeks in a row, if you can't play the last 20 minutes of the game, you can't win. Today was the first game of the 2008 season in which the Bears gave up a touchdown in the first half. A lot of people will look at their two losses and blame Kyle Orton and the Bears' offense. Even though I have always been critical of the Bears' offense, I can't be right now. Their stats aren't fantastic by any means, but they are getting the job done. They are getting the job done in the sense that before the season started, the Bears' defense was telling everyone that they would be as good or better than they were two years ago; two years ago when they went to the Super Bowl because of defense—not offense. I think it is safe to say that with their team from two years ago the Bears would have been 3-0 right now. The defense would never have blown a 14-point lead one week and then a 10-point lead the next. They look flat in the fourth quarter and that is when most Bear defenses pounce and create turnovers. Everyone and their unborn child knows that the Bears are a defense-first team. Right now they need to gather up the killer instinct they used to use to decimate offenses late in games. If they cannot do this, they might as well plan on cuddling with the Lions at the bottom of the division. ... Source: www.windycitygridiron.com --- 18 days ago
Here we go people on ESPN calling the Bears Defense old. Just an idea.Or if you're from the East coast an idearrrrrr. I know this would never happen but I thought about this during the preseason and kinda liked the idea of just letting Urlacher loose to F'up some wideouts or some running back. My thing is I don't see the same player from a few years ago. I really think Urlacher has lost his edge. His tackling has looked poor at times. I remember the Urlacher that would come out of nowhere like a cheetah built like mac truck. I just don't see that superstar effect anymore that made this defense so powerful. Don't get me wrong he's still their best player but I think this move would give him a chance to kill. He's getting older and mucking him up in the middle seems to hinder his talent. maybe like...... Brown, Urlacher Peanut, Vasher Hunter, Briggs, Williams Adewale, Harris, Dusty, Alex B. The truth is YES this Defense is getting older BUT look at what one good draft pick could do for a unit i.e. Matt Forte. So find Urlacher's apprentice and revamp this defense. Or we can have more of the same bend but don't break until your gassed at the end of the game defense. I want a defense that scares teams again. Yes the Bears need a QB and WR thats the top of the list but Urlacher is in his twilight as far as an every down game changer. I think it's time to plan for Urlacher and Mike Brown's replacements. Maybe moving him to s ...

Brian Urlacher's Old Spice Commercial ... Source: www.windycitygridiron.com --- 2 days ago
Interesting article from the guy who reworked Brian Urlacher's training program back in 2004. The Design Challenge Urlacher wanted me to design a program to help improve his fourth quarter endurance. I've always trained Urlacher position-specific by having him work on scraping and filling, pursuit drills, first step explosion, pass drops, change of direction and any other drills to benefit his position at Mike Linebacker. The first challenge in designing the kind of program Urlacher wanted was figuring out why he was tiring so much in the third and fourth quarters. To start, I had Urlacher send me game cuts from four games. I broke each film into different segments by charting each play, starting with the first series. That included the quarter, down and distance, Urlacher's position on the field and the actual play (blitzed the A gap from the right side, for example). Then I broke down each game into four quarters. Each quarter represented actual game movements from the four games Urlacher played. I included 25 seconds between each play, T.V. timeouts and halftime. ... Source: blogs.trb.com --- 29 days ago
