America, your PlayStation Store offering for the week was pretty poor, but you're excused. It's a long weekend, you're out drinking and celebrating and letting off fireworks. But Europe? July 4 means nothing , so you have no excuse. Unless you lot were hanging out for Commando 3 or (the admittedly great) Space Invaders Extreme demo, all you're going to find are the usual assortment of wallpapers you'll never use and trailers you've already seen online. When Ubisoft didn't show Splinter Cell: Conviction at its last event, people worried a little about how the game might be doing. Fear not — the game's doing great. So great, they say, that Ubisoft just decided it'd be better off releasing it as part of its "2009-2010" lineup instead of in this year's fiscal fourth quarter. You know, to "bolster" next year, as the company said in its fiscal first quarter results statement. Signs at Ubidays seemed to suggest that the game was undergoing a reworking , though Ubisoft's reps were specifically vague on details. While many of its titles were previously shown at Ubidays press events, and in some cases last year’s E3 Media Summit, Ubisoft used this year’s show to debut its new Prince of Persia redux. And the Prince has never looked better. “He's a new prince,” said Ben Mattes, producer of the game at Ubisoft. “We look at this franchise like Tales of 1,001 Arabian Nights. The nice developers of Ubisoft Montréal took some time for us with a developer walkthrough of Far Cry 2 and here is the first part of it, played on Xbox 360. The mission is quite similar to the Ubidays demo, but it has a much better AI and a finally stable framerate. More importantly, the player is far more gifted than last time, and it changes a lot. As UbiSoft already statet at the Ubidays a while ago their target was to keep the requirements for the upcoming *Far Cry 2* as low as possible. Now they released the final requirements which are indeed pretty moderate. A good CPU and a lot of memory seems to be more important as a highend... ... Ubisoft has confirmed that Splinter Cell: Conviction has indeed been delayed into the company’s fiscal year 2009/10, which means that the game will not see a release until sometime between April 1, 2009 and March 30, 2010. Those looking forward to Sam Fisher’s newest adventure should be pleased knowing though that the devs will have ample time to iron out any boo-boos and other game glitches before launch. We have been told in the past that it had been delayed, but no official word as to how much of a delay was expected until today. Is something going amiss with the development of Ubisoft 's Far Cry 2 ? Dutch website PSOnly has taken note of the fact that the publisher's official website lists the first-person shooter only for the platforms PC and Xbox 360 . A few months back, Ubisoft had said that they are still in the process of completing the development team for the title. Could this have resulted to a change of plans in the process, thereby resulting to the PlayStation 3 version being left out? Of course, we'd have to consider all angles, so we're thinking it could be possible that it's just a matter of a web content error. Probably the site is just not updated? But when the blog for another multiplatformer was checked out, Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway , it did sport the complete platforms it was going to be in (Xbox 360, PC, PS3). We've also checked out the British site for the game, and this one does include the PS3 version - Wii included. So Ubisoft, what's the deal with Far Cry 2 on the PS3? Is it a go or not? We're still waiting for an official word from them, and hopefully they will release a clarification as to this confusion. Ubisoft has revealed the minimum hardware requirements for the PC version of Far Cry 2 (will also be released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) . The list isn't anything like Crysis ' don't worry. The development team was actually aiming to make it as accessible as possible. Says Dominic Guay, the game's lead technical director: It has always been our intention to make Far Cry 2 as accessible to everyone as possible, and we have worked continuously to optimize Far Cry 2 to achieve this goal. At any rate, let's get down to it. The weekly update for PlayStation Network Store in Europe is looking pretty good. The July 3 update is particularly beefy as it contains some pretty sweet downloads such as the Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 : Gift Pack and a free MGS 4 OTC Theme for PlayStation 3 owners, among others. In addition, a Space Invaders Extreme Demo is also available for PlayStation Portable Owners.
