DiGiorgio getting looks at WLB ( Photo Source ) Day eight of 2008 Buffalo Bills Training camp is in the books, and with it came the team's first major injury of the season.  Rookie linebacker Alvin Bowen, a fifth-round pick out of Iowa State this past April, suffered a severe knee injury in Friday's practice and is likely lost for the season.  As a result of Bowen's injury, the Bills were forced to sign veteran free agent Donnie Spragan , who is expected to be a reserve outside linebacker and special teams player this season. With Angelo Crowell sitting out of practice and Kawika Mitchell limited as part of a rest regimen for select veterans, backup middle linebacker John DiGiorgio worked with the first team at Mitchell's weak side spot.  Keith Ellison continued to take first team reps at Crowell's strong side spot. DiGiorgio's case is interesting.  He played weak side in one game last season - a 26-3 loss at Pittsburgh in Week 2 - and held his own in an underrated effort by Buffalo's defense that Day.  It's becoming clear that he's a much more valuable reserve in Buffalo's linebacking corps than originally anticipated; it will be interesting to see if he gets any reps on the outside during pre-season action. Losman Lighting Up Second Team Defense Trent Edwards' play with the first unit offense has been streaky at best, but veteran backup J.P. Losman has been making plays against Buffalo's second-unit defense.  He continued that t ...

Saints fans got a chance to see close to game like situations today during the full go up intra squad scrimmage today, family Day at Training camp. On the whole, I would have to say the team looked pretty good, particularly the defense, and we should be pleased with what we have seen so far. Notes from the game: Colston didn't play. Lance Moore looked pretty good and scored the first touchdown. We saw a bit more of the kicking battle. Mehlhaff went 4/4 while Gramatica only went 4/5. Reggie Bush saw the ball a lot and scored a touchdown on a short pass. Sedrick Ellis seems to be making up for lost time and has almost caught up with everyone else. He had a sack, possibly two. Scott Shanle also tallied a sack. Aaron Glenn was all over the place and defended three passes. He may be old but he certainly has a chance to make this team as a nickel or dime back. Drew Brees went 7/13 for 88 yards and 2 TD's. Pretty good. The defense as a whole looked pretty solid. Can't say enough about this defensive line. Skyler Green had probably the play of the Day with a 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. That should greatly help his chances of making this team. Hardy, others miss practice time ( Photo Source ) The Buffalo Bills completed their first full seven-Day week of Training camp last night with an evening practice at St. John Fisher College, and Buffalo's injury list continues to lengthen early in camp. The injuries are not yet considered serious, but there are several players missing practice time.  Rookie wide receiver James Hardy, who pulled a hamstring during warm-ups, joined fellow rookie wideout Steve Johnson as sideline spectators .  LB Angelo Crowell missed his third straight night of practice, and S Ko Simpson was absent as well as he had his surgically repaired ankle tested (the MRIs were reportedly negative).  Fellow starting safety Donte Whitner left practice early after getting sick on the field. Despite the injuries (and the continued absence of a certain Pro Bowl left tackle), the Bills' offense put together one of its better practice sessions of camp last night, particularly in the red zone.  Defensive ends Aaron Schobel and Shaun Nua were also absent. Evans, Royal, Jackson Making Plays as Receivers I'm hoping that headline isn't surprising to any of you in regards to Evans.  It's great news to hear just how effective Evans was last night in the red area without the team's tall, shiny new receiver to take attention away from him.  Evans burned both of Buffalo's starting corners, Terrence McGee and Jabari Greer, for scores last night. The quarterback and receiver hoo ...

Written by Chris The Kansas City Chiefs are finally settling into a rhythm on the fifth Day of Training camp. Season Tickets I received my season tickets in the mail yesterday! I can't tell you how exciting a moment this is every year. Reality sets in that this is actually going to happen and that everything we have been talking, analyzing and harping over for months will actually materialize in front of my eyes and either seriously disappoint or incredibly delight me. Certainly nothing in between. The tickets are a symbol of a new beginning and a fresh start. Last year is officially over, this year is finally upon us and these beautiful pieces of paper represent a chance to be a part of Saints history. At the very least, they will provide me with lasting memories and the fix I need to slake my severe thirst for Saints football. Who knows, maybe this could be the year. I look forward to going through the season with all of you guys and I hope you get even a fraction of the same joy. Who Dat!? Random camp notes: The afternoon was the most physical practice so far. Deuce had two very promising carries making some nice cuts. Carl Nicks is still looking impressive. Arrington is human and dropped a few. Camp may be wearing him down. Shockey did not participate again today. Cause for concern? Jon Stinchcomb is fine. There were NFL officials participating in the practices today. Robert Meachem had the play of the Day with a 50-yard run after the catch. Here are three hours of audio from WWL's Sports Talk with Bobby Hebert. That ought to keep you ...

Good afternoon, Kansas City Chiefs fans. Here are your AM practice update links. BobGretz.com UW-RF Warpaint Illustrated Jonal Saint-Dic, an UDFA defensive end the Chiefs signed and then released this off season, is back on the team. That puts the roster at 81, which is the max number including our international player. Herb Taylor, a 2007 6th round pick, is playing backup left tackle but Bob Gretz says he is a ways away from a full time starter. It's been a full year and I'm wondering if Taylor will ever develop into a serviceable o-linemen. Tyler Thigpen played inconsistently in place of the resting Brodie Croyle. On paper, QB may be our thinnest position. Thigpen went down last year and David Greene was signed but currently the Chiefs only have three QBs on the roster. C.E. Wendler of WPI says that the team is practicing executing and defending the bootleg. If I see our Chiefs blow more than two bootlegs this year on defense, I'm going to be pissed. It seems like it's a franchise problem with the bootlegs. We can never defend it. I just don't get it. Check out the links and let us know what you think. Updates are still coming as I prepare to leave the country next Monday. Many thanks to all of you keeping up the discussion in the FanPosts section as my trip increasingly takes up more of my time. ...

Colston and Shockey Both sat out the afternoon practice and the seriousness of their injuries are somewhat unknown to the public. The addition of Shockey to the Saints was immediately touted as possibly being the key to an even more dangerous offense. Shockey would free up Colston and vice versa. Defenses would be forced to account for both players on the field, but if both players are still dealing with injuries come week one, what good is any of it? Here's hoping precautionary measures are just being taken during Training camp, but in addition to other important names sitting out (McAllister, McKenzie, Young, Porter) perhaps we should all be a bit more reserved about our high expectations for this season. Training Camp Scuffle No, I'm not talking about the rumble between Steve Smith and Ken Lucas at Panthers camp. We had our very own little tussle at Millsaps yesterday between Todd Blythe and Wale Dada. A pair of free-agent hopefuls got into a brief face-mask pulling, pawing skirmish in the afternoon session. Wide receiver Todd Blythe and cornerback Wale Dada tangled. Blythe got a parting shot to Dada's helmet as the two separated. - Times-Pic Fashion First Fox 40 has been a great source of live coverage for Training camp practice sessions, but one area of their journalism has been grossly overlooked...their keen eye for fashion and their dedication to keeping us informed of our favorite players' clothing choices. Skyler's the Limit <--Pretty clever huh? Skyler Green was the man of the hour yesterday after his performance during the scrimmage. Being a local product, he is already a fan favorite, however it is widely believed that Green's chances of making this team as a wide receiver alone are slim to none and his special teams work will have to be what puts him over the edge. Heck, 52% of you, the majority I might add, chose him as the one receiver who doesn't make the team. Fortunately for Green, he is making a solid case. Was this kickoff return just a flash in the pan or can we expect him to regularly dial in this Devin Hester-like performance? Hester has shown the entire league the importance and power of a good return game, and that is a weapon the Saints have missed since Beer Man rode his beer truck out of town. All of this leads us to the "question of the Day" below. Until then, here is your daily linkage. If you want to hear Bobby Hebert's take on yesterday's scrimmage, check this article that includes an audio interview with the Cajun Cannon. The usual Cox Sports TV Saints Minute video with Mike Nabors. This one features Marques Colston. Colston says Arrington is ahead of where Colston was at that point in his career. Awesome! The Advocate's latest story offers quotes from Doug Marrone about an improved Saints offense. “There really is room for improvement,” said Doug Marrone, the Saints’ offensive coordinator/offensive line coach ...
