By Melissa Leong, National Post A second young woman has been found stabbed to death in a North York apartment in less than a week, but Toronto Police said today it doesn’t appear they are linked. “It’s a coincidence that they’re both young females living alone in an apartment,” said Det. Sgt. Frank Skubic. A 21-year-old woman identified by co-workers as Haleema Kasana was found stabbed to death yesterday in a new low-rise development near Weston Road and Finch Avenue. Det. Sgt. Skubic said all evidence so far suggests no connection to the killing of 31-year-old Yuan Tian last week in Bayview Village. “It made me nervous when I first heard of it. So much so that first thing this morning, I had a briefing with the officer in charge of [the latest] investigation…and determined that there are no linkages at this particular time,” said Det. Sgt. Skubic, who is probing Ms. Tian’s murder. Ms. Kasana lived with her black Labrador/Shepherd in a fifth-floor bachelor unit, according to neighbours. She had failed to show up yesterday for her 7 a.m. shift at a nearby Esso gas station, which struck her co-workers as odd because she had been a model employee in her eight months there. Friends grew worried when she did not answer her cell phone. Police say a friend found her body and contacted Police at about 8 p.m. Investigators found no signs of forced entry into her home. Det. Chris Neal spent last night interviewing her friends and will be s ... Source: network.nationalpost.com --- 13 days ago
Canwest News Service Toronto — Homicide investigators with the Toronto Police were set to announce a $50,000 reward Wednesday for any information in the killings of two young men last June. Best friends Dylan Ellis and Oliver Martin, both 25, were gunned down while sitting in their Range Rover outside a downtown condo shortly after midnight on June 13. The two had just watched a basketball game at a friend’s house when they were shot. No arrests have been made in the slayings and Police say that they have very few leads. Investigators say the two men did not know their attackers. Families of the victims were set to be at a news conference at Toronto Police headquarters at 10:30 a.m. local time Wednesday. In the past, their mothers have made passionate pleas to the public for their sons’ killer or killers to turn themselves in. ... Source: www.680news.com --- 24 days ago
