AC/DC still rocks the charts, according to TicketNews's Weekly Top Events rankings for the week ending October 5. The hard rockers hold the number one position in both the Top Combined Events rankings and the Top Concert rankings for the third week in a row. This week's other top ticket sellers include Wicked , in at number two with a 5.36 power score, and the Eagles , who rank at number three with a 2.47 power score. Tina Turner appears in the overall top ten again; this week she's number five and has a 2.10 power score. AC/DC, the Eagles, and Tina Turner may have the hottest selling concert tickets, but according to the Top Concert Events rankings, fans are still excited about Madonna (number four, power score 5.79) and Metallica (number five, 3.52). The new James Bond flick has been sparking heated debate since the day its name was announced. That's probably because the title Quantum of Solace was thought up at the last second by producer Michael Wilson, presumably while he was browsing an 11th-grade vocabulary quiz. But the name stuck, and now it's time for the annual ritual of debating the new Bond song. This time out, it's a Jack White-Alicia Keys number, a duet that rivals the 1995 pairing of Tina Turner and U2 in its awkward attempt at crossover marketing. The new song, "Another Way to Die," has some catchy guitar hooks that almost make you forget that Keys is wandering around in there somewhere. Bloggers have spent the past few days shredding and defending the track with equal vigor. (Much to White's chagrin, Coca-Cola seems to have liked it , anyway.) My only real beef is that when White and Keys sing the chorus together, their voices don't so much harmonize as poke your brain with a rusty screwdriver. KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Rock singer Tina Turner says she is excited to officially begin her "Tina Live Tour" in Kansas City, Mo. The "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll" said when she steps on stage at the Sprint Center at the sold-out start of her new North American tour, she will be returning to a place where she used to be a regular performer, The Kansas City Star reported Saturday. "I've been away from America -- home -- for at least a good 12 years. I have some memories of certain towns and when we started to think about where to start," she said regarding Wednesday's performance. "Kansas City and St. Louis were areas I played a lot, a lot, when I was here." Turner, whose public efforts during the last few years have been focused in Europe, said those who show up for her first tour show are in for a treat. "All the songs I think people want to hear are there, but with different choreography," she told the Star. "I think the costumes are fantastic." ...
