I bought TiVo Desktop Plus in order to transfer movies (mpeg format) to TiVo. The movie plays totally fine on my PC, but when I transfer to TiVo, there is no sound. The picture looks fine, but the sound is completely absent. I turned up the volume on the TV to the max to see if I could hear anything, but it's not there. The file appears to be a run-of-the-mill mpeg. It was from a DVD recorded in Japan and sent to me. Any ideas? I did a search of the forum and found nothing. Thanks for any help! ...

Everytime I start TiVo I get this message: * Unable to begin TiVo. Element not found.* I have removed the TiVo application, quicktime, bonjour and all other applications required. I have run a registry cleaner. I have reinstalled quicktime, bonjour and TiVo 2.6.1. I still have the same problem. I have done this more 6 times. After uninstalling TiVo Desktop 2.5.1, I attemped to install 2.6.2 as an Administrator but get the following error "TiVo Desktop 2.6.2 Installer Error" "The installation ended prematurely because an error occurred." This is a Vista machine. I contacted TiVo but they weren't much help other than to suggest I create a new user and install from there. That did work however it is inconvenient to have to switch users to maintain the TiVo Server. I even tried unstalling it again and reinstalling under the original user but get the same error message. I also tried reinstalling 2.5.1 but get the same error message. Anyone have any ideas? ...

Because my TiVo Server kept hanging, I reinstalled TiVo Desktop version 2.5.1 (already gave up on 6.1 for the usual issues). I had been waiting for the 9.4 update to see if it would fix this problem, but it has not. I was able to tape Patton a few months ago (when TWC somehow left the copyprotect flag off the Cinemax channel it aired on) and have been unable to transfer it to my mac, ala Roxio Popcorn or via browser. Download will always hang at 6.9 MB just as a channel change is taking place. I can with some persistence get the download to resume (by stopping and restarting it) nut no matter how far it gets (it's now halted at 13.0 GB or a 13.2 GB file) it does not allow me to decode it via Popcorn, saying that I need to have the right MAK (which of course is already in Popcorn and works with other files). Has anyone who's had this problem figured out a solution? thanks! ...

I saw a link on dealhack this morning for a Factory Renewed TiVo HD for $180 (direct from TiVo). I currently have a series 2 dual tuner. I'd simply like to swap it out for the TiVo HD without messing with my subscription options. It looks like on TiVo's website that I either have to commit to monthly service at $12.95 a month or pay the annual $130 subscription fee. Any of you know if it's possible to just buy the TiVo HD and swap it out - should I just try and call TiVo rather than ordering online? I had done this once before per the directions I got from here (thanks!) on a TiVo I bought from BigLots. Thanks in advance ...
