The participation in the last Sunbird localization testday wasn't so good. Maybe it is helpful to clarify what L10N testing means. It is not really necessary to understand the tested language because the main focus of this testing is to find untranslated strings (still the English wording), garbled characters (language specific letters, e.g. 'ü' or 'ä'), and messages in the error console at startup (often caused by mistranslated timezone strings). Please, take a look at some of the Bugs filed on the last testday, which are good samples: bug 449646 and bug 450618 . Localization testing in Sunbird is easy. After downloading and unzipping the translated Sunbird build start the application with a new profile, and you get the correct locale. In Lightning you should also use a new profile, but you have to start Thunderbird with the parameter '-UILocale', e.g. '-UILocale fr' or '-UILocale pt-BR'. Cool new features "Generation of OO based LDTP code" and "Generation of * in window title" by Shreyank Gupta . Both the features were implemented in LDTP Editor code base. Windows/Mac/Linux (All platforms): Lightning and Sunbird, Mozilla's calendar and task-management apps, have upgraded to 0.9 releases that fix hundreds of Bugs and improve functionality. Along with general fixes to stability and memory consumption, the calendar views in both the stand-alone Sunbird and Thunderbird add-on Lightning have overhauled, and events that span multiple days now actually look like they do so. This is the last release Lightning will see as an add-on, as it's being integrated into Thunderbird 3 , so Thunderbird 2 users should definitely make the upgrade. Sunbird and Lightning are free downloads for Windows, Mac, and Linux systems; Google Calendar users, the essential Provider extension still works with this release. The Lightning add-on for the open-source e-mail client Thunderbird (for Windows and Mac ) updates officially to Version 0.9, and Mozilla promises that it will be the last one before it's rolled into Thunderbird 3.0. Lightning provides Thunderbird with calendaring and e-mail-invitation abilities. (Credit: CNET Networks) This update doesn't introduce quite as many new features as the last one did, but there are still plenty of major changes. Interface enhancements include a visual indicator for events that span multiple days, an overhaul of both the "minimonth" calendar in the upper left and the main day/week/multiweek/month calendar views, a progress indicator for when remote calendars are loading, and support for the Today pane in both calendar mode and task mode. The guts of Lightning have been strengthened, too. CalDAV support and interoperability with CalDAV servers--the bits of the extension that send your calendar data back and forth--have been improved. Support for e-mail invitations, the iMip and iTip, has been improved, too. Although many of the major Bugs that afflicted this feature were overcome in v0.8, 0.9 is even better. Also, memory consumption has been reduced, while various leaks have been plugged. Overall, the extension works better than it ever has at calendaring, and is more suitable as an Outlook replacement than it used to be .
