It goes without saying that I am a huge Tales series fan. I think I may be the only man on earth who counts Tales of Destiny (for the original Playstation) as one of my favorite games of all time. I am not sure exactly what jelled with me on that one, but I have evil memories of attempting to make it to my University classes after all night party scenes and finding relief only in the action oriented RPG based Tales of Destiny. Now, many, many years later, I somehow managed to completely miss out on Tales of the Abyss even thought I went all the way through Tales of Legendia. It is commonly discussed online that Abyss beats Legendia hands down, so how did I manage to get involved with one and not the other? I attribute it, I think, to a poor review I read at the time though I can't think of the source for the life of me. The bottom line, however is that I truly wanted to play this but was having a devil of a time finding it despite asking at every EBGames I went to. Yeah, there is always eBay, but I tend to use that as a last resort. After months of coming up empty handed, strangely enough, one of my bargain bin hunts through Blockbuster ended up finding me a copy of Tales of the Abyss. And, for only $14.99! Then, I even happened upon the strategy guide for only 4 dollars at the video game store in West Edmonton mall. Score, time to fire this baby up! Underperforming lineups and tiring pitchers are starting to wear me down. Let's have a little fun and come up with a line up using the best outfield (3 players), best infield (4 players) and catchers(up to 2). The best pitching staff (4 starters or 5 if you can find 5 with 3 relievers). The players must have performed on the same team for the same year. e.g. the 1988 SF Giants out field, 1985 SL Cards infield, the 1986 Dodgers Starting Staff, the 1996 NYY relievers and the 02 LA Dodgers catchers. So hot, in fact, that the fluid has moved from being a fluid, to being a supercritical fluid. A black smoker is a type of hydrothermal vent, a fissure in the planet’s surface, from which water heated by the geothermal heat from beneath issues in to the surrounding water. It's water, but not as we know it if both temperature and pressure is pushed to a critical point, the gas and the liquid will merge in to what is called a supercritical fluid. With the water maxing out at 464 °C for periods of 20 seconds, but settling at around 407 °C, the supercritical water acts different than normal water. Interactive garden attempts to change lives By Jack Nicas For close to a month now, pedestrians wandering down Elm Street have noticed a mysterious garden beckoning them to enter. It is a daring task to walk into a stranger’s yard, but that’s exactly what the owner wants. It is a challenge to participants in hopes of inspiring change in their lives. After following the tiki torch-lined stone path and crossing the spiral marbled “Abyss,” risk-takers come to what appears to be a colorful punching bag. Upon further inspection, it is revealed the color comes from countless multi-colored notes marked with part participants’ deepest questions. As the hanging cards twirl in the wind, one can see each question is thoughtfully answered on the back. To one’s left a sign reads: “Confess a fear, a secret, a question. Leave it in the box. Return in two days and the back will speak.” Completing this task is the first step to “crossing into the Abyss.” Although erecting such an experiment in one’s front yard may sound absurd to most, it is just another project on the extensive resume of Johnny Monsarrat.
