Alright, bare with me. I'm currently tackling a bizarre email issue for a client using MS Exchange 2003 who is a former Telus Hosting customer. Sending is fine, but receiving seems to have occasional missing emails. Sometimes, when someone external to them emails so_and_so@theircompany.com, the emails are never received. Sometimes the senders complain that the messages just get bounced back with a server response of "no such user". Here is the current path of mail delivery: theircompany.com (registrar) > theircompany.com - DNS A record resolves to theoretical IP of 10.0.0.0 > theircompany.com - one DNS MX record which points back to theircompany.com > Theoretical IP of 10.0.0.1 is their WAN IP of a router. > The router then forwards port 25 to their internal exchange server of (lets call it 10.0.0.2). > Users then connect to the exchange server using Outlook 2003. So to simplify further... theircompany.com (resolves 10.0.0.1), router forwards to 10.0.0.2. Pretty straight forward way of receiving email, right? Every single time I test sending from my email (separate server) to one of their accounts, everything goes through fine. No issues whatsoever. And this is the case most of the time. But the problem is with how many senders cannot reach them, and I'm at a loss for fixing it. I have however noticed a pattern developing though. It seems like senders sending through Telus never make it through. For example, if I use telnet directly t ...

In a move that will allow both carriers to offer a wider range of cellphone models as well as maintain higher mobile internet speeds, both Telus and Bell made separate announcements this morning declaring their investments in adding HSPA (the data connection used by Rogers and Fido for the iPhone 3G and other smartphones) to their networks by 2010 and 4G LTE, the next level of wireless internet service quickly being adopted by cellular carriers around the world, shortly after. High-speed internet service is currently in its third generation, commonly referred to as 3G and here in Canada is ...

It looks like 3.5G networks are being developed by various carriers out there. Canada’s Telus makes no exception. The company has announced the arrival of their 3.5G HSPA network. It is scheduled to be launch in early 2010. By that time Telus will be working hard on getting it fully functional in Canada. Telus is going to work side by side with Bell. That two carriers will finish developing the new network faster and cheaper than if they worked alone. Telus is expecting to pay around $750 million for the upgrade in 2009 alone. HSPA upgrades might cost even more in the years to come. While others are thinking LTE for the future, Telus is going to focus on HSPA. Good or bad decision? We’re going to find out in a little less than two years. Earlier today, BCE Inc. and Telus Corp. formally announced their pact to build a 3G wireless network together , a billion-dollar undertaking which is expected to be completed in time for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Although the news is one the telecom industry's worst kept secrets , the high-speed network is based on the latest version of high speed packet access (HSPA) technology and provide both companies with a clear pathway to the emerging 4G long-term evolution (LTE) standard. Both Bell and Telus will be using wireless equipment sourced from Nokia Siemens Network and China's Huawei Technology Co. Ltd. to upgrade their network. Not surprisingly, both vendors triumphantly released statements today, although most of the attention was focused on their relationship with only one of the carriers: “We are excited to be working with Telus” said Huawei's chief of global sales and service Ken Hu. “With industry leading technologies which have been widely deployed globally, as well as our leading position in LTE development, we are confident that we will provide Telus with a superior network that will evolve seamlessly to the technology of the future and help Telus enhance its competitiveness in Canada.“ ”Since its inception, Nokia Siemens Networks has been committed to the Canadian market and its potential for further advancement in next-generation wireless services, so we are extremely pleased to have been selected by Telus” ...
