Some websites, including that of KTLA-TV Channel 5, are being redesigned to drop the CW brand and instead focus on local identity. Filed under: Industry , ABC , CBS , Fox , NBC , Cable Reports have been flooding in from across Ohio, Indiana and Texas to confirm the cold, hard truth: LIN TV has begun removing its Stations from Time Warner Cable systems. Last month, we found that the two were still in disagreement over carriage terms , with LIN TV wanting TWC to pony up to carry Stations that could otherwise be fetched OTA for free. Amazingly, they let the October 2nd deadline come and go without even a stopgap deal, meaning that some locals in Dayton, Columbus, Toledo, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Austin, Green Bay, Buffalo and a handful of other cities have now vanished from TWC's EPG. In a posting made on the carrier's site, it bluntly states that LIN TV is "trying to make up for lower ratings and advertising revenue by adding fees that will fall, ultimately, on the backs of our cable customers." Granted, that's only one half of the story, but here's the bottom line: you two need to come to terms, and fast. I have a big problem with this. The Obama campaign is sending letters to TV Stations threatening them with regulatory retaliation if they show an ad that the campaign says is inaccurate. You can read the letter sent by Obama general counsel Bob Bauer, a guy I respect very much as an attorney, has sent to TV station managers. The issue is this ad from the NRA: Read the rest of this post... | Read the comments on this post... ...

Negotiations continue today between LIN TV Corp. and Time Warner Cable on a redistribution agreement. The current deal expires October 2. If a new arrangement is not reached tens of thousands of cable customers in Indiana will no longer have access to programming that includes the National Football League's Indianapolis Colts. LIN owns WISH-TV, MyNDY and WIIH in Indianapolis. Those signals are currently on Bright House Networks cable in Central Indiana, which is a partner of Time Warner. LIN also owns WTHI in Terre Haute, which is on Time Warner Cable in that city. Inside INdiana Business Television is broadcast on WTHI and WISH-TV. Bright House Networks Indiana Division President Buz Nesbit says his company has never been forced to pull a local signal off one of its systems. WISH-TV President and General Manager Jeff White says Bright House is not recognizing the value of LIN TV's signals in Central Indiana. ...

For the public good, both Time Warner Cable and Lin TV Corp. have told viewers where to go to get "CSI," NFL football games, or "Jeopardy" -- all as a consequence of their stalemated TV station carriage negotiations. In the end, maybe both companies are, in that merely telling viewers where to "go." ...
