The SPLL 12A All-Star team won the Rehoboth TOURNAMENT this weekend. SPLL fought through the heat of the weekend to beat Bridgewater, 18-2, in the championship game (third game of the day) to win the weekend TOURNAMENT. In the game, SPLL banged out 20 hits and four homeruns. They were led by Devin Maguire . Devin pitched three strong innings striking out four. At the plate, he had three hits including a homerun and drove in four runs. He was named the star of the game. Others contributing to the win: Jimmy Brunone – three hits including a homerun and double and drove in three runs. Austin Houlihan – three hits including a homerun and drove in two runs. Devin Furtado – two hits including a homerun and drove in two runs. Austin Howie – three hits and drove in two runs. Mark Mineo – two hits. Brendan Beane , Jake Smith , Mitchell Peterson and Teddy Savage also had hits. On the mound Savage got the win throwing two scoreless innings with two strikeouts, and Beane threw the last inning to close out the game. In the TOURNAMENT, SPLL outscored their opponents 46-10 while hitting 11 homeruns and hitting over .400 as a team. The Windham Baseball Softball League girls seniors all-stars went undefeated to win the U14 division of the Barrington Youth Association’s annual Grip N Rip TOURNAMENT, June 27 to 29, in Barrington. The team began with a come-from-behind, 3-2 win against Concord on June 27. Entering the bottom of seventh and last inning, Windham trailed, 2-0, but the girls rallied, scoring the winning run with two out. They went right back onto the field and built momentum with a 9-5 victory over Raymond. In their only game on June 28, Windham drubbed Somersworth, 7-3. Against TOURNAMENT host Barrington on June 29, the locals fell behind by two runs, then answered with two in the third inning, two in the fourth and eight more in the fifth en route to a 12-7 victory.
