Gaming Today Whoa there, GameTap; I think I need a minute. You’re telling me that you’ve partnered up with THQ to bring some of their games to your subscription service? And what’s more, these are actually some of their best titles? I need to sit down…preferably in front of my gaming rig. Yes, GameTap has indeed confirmed a number of cool titles will be making their way to their service this summer, games such as: Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War Company of Heroes Red Faction Supreme Commander Saints Row 2 Titan Quest Puzzle Quest S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl There’s enough games there to keep you occupied for quite awhile (Puzzle Quest alone may steal a couple weeks off your life). The only out-of-place one on the list seems to be Saints Row 2, since that makes me wonder if the game will hit GameTap the same day it hits retail — like Codemasters did with Jericho. GameTap and THQ have signed a deal to bring games published by the latter firm to the former's subscription-based service this summer. The list of titles coming to GameTap include Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War (and its numerous expansions), Puzzle Quest , S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Saints Row 2 , among others. It remains to be seen if Saints Row 2 's digital release will coincide with the game's October 14 retail release. GameTap has a deal in place with U.K. firm Codemasters to allow for simultaneous retail and digital releases of that company's titles, so it seems very possible that SR2 may see the same fate. Filed under: MMO , Business 38 Studios has added a seasoned artist to its ranks, announcing the appointment of Thom Ang as the company's new director of art. In his new role, Ang will oversee the art management and direction of 38 Studios' projects, including " Copernicus ," the outfit's ever-mysterious MMO undertaking. A 15-year digital art and illustration vet, Ang joins the Curt Schilling -founded developer from THQ, where he handled things both artsy and fartsy for more that 25 of the company's titles. In addition, he also worked on TV shows such as The X-Files , and spent time in the trenches at EA Los Angeles handing art and team management for the Medal of Honor franchise. We're still in the dark as to what the studio is up to with Copernicus , though it's good to know the company has someone on board with the chops to help steer the ship down a more artistic path. Subscription-based download service GameTap has announced a new deal with publisher THQ to see its selection of THQ and ValuSoft PC games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Puzzle Quest added to the service, including its free-play ad-supported category.
