... I am slowly working my way through defeating all of my old Super nintendo games again. I beat "Donkey Kong Country" in about two hours, tipsy. "Super Castlevania IV" was a bigger project (I just beat it about ten minutes ago), and I am currently running through "Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest" on cooperative mode with Clint. After that I think I'll round off "Indiana Jones's Greatest Adventures" and then, I don't know, "Final Fantasy III"? Aside from that, I think I'm taking a few classes. In Other News Truman U. has this exchange program where scores of Taiwanese girls stay somewhere on our campus over the summer. There is also one weekend where they get to live with an American family, presumably in order to absorb the outstanding cultural values of the Mom, Pop, Rover and two-point-five child household (they came to the wrong city). There weren't enough families willing to house these girls. My roommate and I are going to be hosting two of them for the weekend. Three words: Asian Slumber Party. I'm told that they speak English very well, and that one of them has Social Anxiety Disorder...and wants to go to a party. It's a bit confusing. They haven't even shown up yet and already I'm unsure of what to do with them. Jared there are a lot of ways this could go wrong. Why did you decide to do this? I was bored , wasn't I? ... Today was a good day. Saw Hellboy II, played some Rock Band and then went to see VGL! The Video Games Live show was really great. They covered all the big songs, had the Super Mario piano player guy who rocked it doing both a Final Fantasy bit and Tetris along with the blindfolded SMB . They did Halo, Mario, Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, God of War, Civilization IV, Metroid, Mass Effect, World of Warcraft, Metal Gear Solid, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith (Sweet Emotion), and more I can't remember. They closed with some big Final Fantasy tune [One Winged Angel] and then the big finale was Castlevania. The Guitar Hero bit was awesome. Before the show they had a competition and some girl won it. That meant she got to go on stage and play Sweet Emotion with the orchestra, while Tommy Tallarico played along and the vocalist did backup vocals. She had to get 1.5 million points on Hard and she'd win a Dell XPS laptop. The girl gets up there and says she's going to play on Expert instead and they let her and she fucking killed it getting 95%, winning the laptop and had the crowd cheering for her. It was a fun, interactive blast and well worth the cash to go. If it's coming to your town you should go check it out. ... Source: kenshin5000.livejournal.com --- 58 days ago

Picked up some really cheap XBox games today, for around $9 total! Xyanide ($4.99) , a good-ol' shmup, and Freaky Flyers($3.99) , a Diddy Kong Racing clone. I'll have to get home and try these two games out and post some impressions & possibly a review or two. We'll have to send them through the Pencil Filter and post some videos of the stuff! That is, if Einstein ever gets back from vacation! I'm also searching for Judge Dredd: Dredd vs Death , a FPVS (first person vampire slayer) game, that is definitly good for a few- if not several- laughs. Speaking of Vampire games, Max has gotten his hands on some Castlevania titles: Circle of the Moon, Aria of Sorrow, and Harmony of Dissonance for the GBA, and has re-acquired Castlevania Bloodlines (Sega Genesis) and Super Castlevania IV (SNES), as well as Castlevania: Dracula X (SNES). Bloodlines still ranks as one of our favorites, gameplay and style-wise, while Super Castlevania IV has some of the best music short of Symphony of the Night. Also, Contra Hard Corp, Contra Force, and Contra III: The Alien Wars are lurking in the shadows, but aren't generating as much excitement at Beacon High Command and Fortress Knarf as the Castlevania titles and the new XBox purchases are. Plus we're gonna have to get Knarf & Einstein plugging away at Golf: Tee It Up! and Civilization for the XBox 360. We'll be posting some more shit soon to check out! ...
