The problem with Movies about psychopaths who kill people as an act of revenge against some prior offense is that these psychos almost always wind up going off-message. They'll be focused on their targets, stalking, lurking, toying with them, and then, randomly, they'll kill a security guard or a cop -- someone who had nothing to do with whatever it is they're upset about. That's why I prefer Movies about psychos who kill indiscriminately. At least those guys stick to their game plan: They hate ... Source: www.npr.org --- 36 days ago

We've seen this movie before—sort of. Once upon a time, a hugely unpopular president tied to a baffling, unpopular, and apparently interminable war halfway around the world could not run for re-election. Back in 1995 when I was writing a film column for an alt-weekly publication, I started getting pestered by people about the movie ads we were running. These folks would call (not e-mail) to ask if I knew what those strange markings meant that began with “www” and were stripped along the bottom of the ad. ... In well over thirty years of hardcore moviegoing, I've learned one thing: Movies are educational, even when they're not trying to be. For proof, look no further than the 2008 Summer season. Rarely has a three-month span of cinematic entertainment... ...

I was talking with Ben the other day about what Movies we were looking forward to. And with that simple conversation was born a new list of 8! I’m not really going out on any limbs here, I don’t think. I mean, it’s mostly Summer fare and that’s all about big productions, right? Turns out it’s [...] ... Movies seem to be a good topic here. Just looking at some of the Movies coming out the remainder of 2008 and into next year. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/schedule/ Might be going to see Blindness this weekend. Might not. I'd prefer something like Burn After Reading though. Anyone seen either yet? Also on the list for 2008: - Body of Lies. Probably your typical CIA/double-cross movie that's good for a rental or a rainy afternoon. - May Payne. Liked the video games but is this just Mark Wahlberg playing the same character in any action movie he's been in? He's entertaining to watch but being cast in too-similar roles can get old. Particularly with video game Movies, most of those tend to be duds. - Pride and Glory. Ed Norton is usually good. Is it just me or does it seem like 75% of Movies coming out lately are military/police stories of some sort? Aside from Pineapple Express which was worth the cost of admission, I am not having much luck with comedies lately. Been re-watching Hot Rod more times than I can count. - W. Oliver Stone directing, never really liked his Movies to begin with. That would probably weigh on this more than my curiosity of it in general. Sure there's more, I'll return eventually. ... It's been a good Summer to stay indoors. From reality-bending assassins to non-verbal robots, cosmopolitan singles to gothic heroes, this has been a movie season to remember. Perfect Tommy has a perfect idea – now that Summer is officially over… 1. The Dark Knight 2. Iron Man 3. Prince Caspian 4. Man On Wire 5. Step Brothers Tomorrow we’ll do worst five. Ben Stiller’s Tropic Thunder will probably be the last Summer 2008 movie I see, and it was a fine one to finish with. Reviews were mixed, and PC advocates were up in arms (link from Morning News), but I found it a very silly, very funny film. Yes, it was big, loud, and often stupid. [...] ...
