With only nine races remaining on the schedule before the 2008 season comes to a close, the focus turns to Dover International Speedway this weekend for the running of the Camping World RV 400. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competitors will battle the high banks of the "Monster Mile" for the second time this season in the second race of the Chase for the Championship. In June, Dover unveiled several new features for their ticketholders including The Monster Monument at Victory Plaza. Serving as the new focal point for the speedway, the attraction hosts the newly redesigned fan area which is doubled in size. Several hundred of the fans scheduled to be on hand at Sunday's race are supporters of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF). The NFFF and Dover International Speedway entered a partnership earlier in the summer resulting in allowing nearly 500 supporters to enjoy race day at the Monster Mile as well as honor the nearly 100 firefighters who lose their lives each year in the line of duty. The offer includes a ticket to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, admission to a pre-race, NFFF hospitality area, and a trackside tour of the Monster Mile. As part of pre-race activities, a ceremonial lap around the track will feature several fire trucks carrying survivor families of loved ones lost in the line of duty. Prior to Sunday's race, several Sprint Cup drivers will try their hand at a different sport as they participate in "Bu ...

Eighteen year old Middletown native Joey Logano fought an ill handling car all day long and finished 32nd in his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut Sunday in the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Despite the struggles, Logano's disappointing debut wasn't much different than the struggles some of the best drivers in the Series went through when they made their first showing. Below is a comparison of the debuts of Sprint Cup Series champions Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson and that of Kyle Busch, who led the Series with eight victories this season. Jeff Gordon 1992: Atlanta Motor Speedway Started: 21st Finished 31st Crashed, completed 164 of 328 laps (41 cars started the race) Jimmie Johnson 2001: Lowe's Motor Speedway Started: 15th Finished 39th Crashed, completed 192 of 334 laps Kyle Busch 2004: Las Vegas Motor Speedway Started: 18th Finished 41st Crash, completed 11 of 267 laps Joey Logano 2008: New Hampshire Motor Speedway Started: 40th Finished: 32nd Running, completed 297 of 300 laps. ...

Middletown native Joey Logano found himself a bit behind the pack when the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series took the track Friday for their first practice of the weekend for the division in preparation for Sunday's Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The 18-year old Joe Gibbs Racing driver, who will run the Sprint Cup Series full-time in 2009, is looking to make his Sprint Cup Series debut at New Hampshire. Logano was 38th fastest of 45 cars in the day's first practice, which last an hour and a half. Logano ran 29 laps and had a fast lap of 29.827 seconds (127.696 mph). Clint Bowyer led the practice session at 29.237 seconds (130.273 mph). Logano is running the No. 96 Home Depot sponsored Hall of Fame Racing entry at New Hampshire. Hall of Fame is a satellite organization of Joe Gibbs Racing. Logano will run the No. 20 Home Depot sponsored Sprint Cup Series car for Joe Gibbs Racing staring next season, replacing 2-time Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart in the car. The Sprint Cup Series is scheduled to begin qualifying at 3:10 p.m. though weather could affect that schedule. Logano had been scheduled to make his Sprint Cup debut at Richmond International Raceway last week but when qualifying was cancelled there he was left out of the starting field. Should qualifying be cancelled Friday at New Hampshire Logano would be in the starting field. ...
