The Sprint Cup Series wraps up its duo of scheduled road races for the 2008 season this weekend with the running of the Centurion Boats at The Glen at Watkins Glen International (WGI). UPS driver David Reutimann is looking to rebound after a disappointing finish last weekend in Pocono where he witnessed a potential top-10 finish slip through his fingers after his #44 Toyota Camry ran out of fuel on the final lap of the race. "Pocono was a disappointing run for our team because our car was much better than where we finished the race," Reutimann said. "With all of the rain during the race, it really put a lot of us on different pit cycles so we had no choice but to try and stretch our fuel mileage to have a shot at a top finish. The race this weekend at Watkins Glen can also shape up to be a pit strategy race so we're going to give it another shot and hopefully come out on the good this weekend." The Centurion Boats at The Glen will take place this Sunday, August 10 at 2 p.m. EDT. The ESPN Television Network will carry the live television broadcast of the race beginning at 1 p.m. EDT while the Motor Racing Network (MRN) network will provide live radio coverage. Rain forced cancellation of Friday's qualifying for the Centurion Boats at The Glen at Watkins Glen International. Morning practice was also scrubbed because of inclement weather. By rule, the starting grid for Sunday's race at Watkins Glen will be set by the current NASCAR Sprint Cup Series owner points, giving Kyle Busch the pole position. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. will start on the outside of the first row. Carl Edwards and two-time defending series champion Jimmie Johnson will make up the second row. Other drivers of note and their starting positions: Jeff Burton (fifth), Jeff Gordon (sixth), Tony Stewart (ninth), Kevin Harvick (11th), Clint Bowyer (12th), Matt Kenseth (13th) and David Ragan (14th). Without the opportunity to make a qualifying attempt, Boris Said and Brian Simo will miss Sunday's race. ...

NASCAR’s two best road racers will be starting Sunday’s Centurion Boats at The Glen in the third and fifth rows after rain washed out Sprint Cup Series qualifying for a fifth time in the last nine years at Watkins Glen International. All that means is Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart – each seeking an unprecedented fifth victory at The Glen – will be chasing the series’ newest road racing ace Kyle Busch. The field for Sunday’s 90-lapper was set by car owner points, putting a driver on pole position who is poised for a historic third NASCAR-sanctioned road racing victory this season. “Starting up front should pay dividends, hopefully we can have a fast enough race car to keep it up there,” said Busch, who has won a Nationwide Series road race in Mexico City and the Sprint Cup race at Infineon Raceway in June. This weekend he has two chances to do what neither Gordon nor Stewart have done – win three in one year. Dale Earnhardt Jr., who won a Busch Series race here in 1999, will start second and a pair of up-and-coming road racers, Carl Edwards and Jimmie Johnson, will start on the second row. Each of them have an immediate advantage over Gordon and Stewart, but for how long? “I would have liked a chance to qualify, just like everyone, but starting third, that won’t be a bad position,” Edwards said. “A lot can happen here.” Those at the front of the field who haven’t performed well at The Glen lately will now have a chance to tailor pit ...
