The Times Online are reporting that Tobey Maguire stands to earn $50m in salary and profit shares for filming Spider-man 4 and Spider-man 5 back to back over six months. As part of the deal Maguire has also been allowed time off during mornings and evenings to spend with his young daughter - an exceptional case due to the planned duration of the shoot. “Tobey admits he is obsessive-compulsive about everything he does, and raising Ruby is no different,” a friend said last week. “There’s no way Tobey would allow work, no matter how well paid, to get between him and Ruby, and Sony realised that.” Thanks again Robin! ...

Aww, poor Tricia Helfer Black Cat - she never knew what hit her! Oh well, knowing Spidey, they're bound to just kiss and make up... eventually. So here we have a new Spider-man: Web of Shadows video interview. Just like last time (in the vid showing symbiote- Wolverine ), we hear again from Chris Scholz. In this video interview, he talks about the combat system they've devised for the upcoming game. Looks like it's a lot of bouncing around and timed button presses for some maximum damage. We also get to see more footage of Spider-man waltzing around the skyline in his "Black Suit". Activision 's Spider-man: Web of Shadows will be released on the PS3 , PS2 , PSP , Xbox 360 , PC, Nintendo Wii , and DS on October 21. Now that Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire have signed back on for a fourth and fifth installment of the Spider-man saga, MTV confronted Kirsten Dunst while she was promoting her upcoming film, “How to Lose Friends and Alienate People” to find out if Mary Jane will be back to annoy Peter Parker once again. “I’m in,” said the actress matter of factly. However, when pressed to make the announcement official, Dunst quickly changed her tone, and rather cryptically added, “I’m not saying anything, I know there’s rumors…” What do you think, Spidey-fans?  Does this news of more Dunst-involvement in Spider-man 4 and 5 groove you?  Or are you like me in thinking this needy character needs to be put to rest so Peter can finalize realize he’d have something much better with that skinny little waif next door? ...

Raimi and Maguire Set for Spider-Man 4? Source: Deadline Hollywood Daily September 5, 2008 Back in May, Cinematical was the first to report that Sony Pictures might shoot Spider-Man 4 and Spider-Man 5 at the same time using James Vanderbilt's script that the site said spans two films. Now, Deadline Hollywood Daily has added on that director Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire have apparently signed on the dotted line for Spider-Man 4, which the studio is targeting for a May 2011 release. DHD adds that there's no deal for Kirsten Dunst to return as Mary Jane Watson yet, but the character will be featured and the studio would not recast her. As for the baddie in the fourth picture, the site says that principal photography doesn't start until the fall of 2009 and that once we find out who the villain we'll know who is playing it. Naturally, speculation would put Dylan Baker's character Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard at the head of the line, but who knows? According to the site, "the studio is trying to figure out if it can feasibly shoot Spider-Man 4 and 5 at the same time because doing that is so cost effective and 'it wasn't so easy to get everybody back together.'" DHD also says that Sony has hired two screenwriters to pen the new script for the Spidey spin-off Venom. Is this all accurate? We'll have to wait and see if/when the studio starts making some announcements, which could be a while! ...
