By now we all now that recycling is a big part of the solution to our global warming woes. This goes for plastics, consumer electronics, and even large home appliances like refrigerators. Thant's right. Refrigerators can and should be recycled. Keeping food fresh uses up roughly 18 percent of the total electricity in a typical California home. And if your freeze box dates back to 1993 or earlier, it can eat up to 50 percent more than a new ENERGY STAR-rated model. To end the waste cycle Southern California Edison (SCE) instituted the Refrigerator and Freezer Recycling Program , which offers $50 incentives for recycling old units and an additional $50 rebate toward the purchase of a new ENERGY STAR-labeled fridge. Pickup is free and the savings amount to $292 a year in electricity costs if you dispose of a spare refrigerator or $195 a year if you opt for a new one. And then of course there is the 60 pounds of carbon dioxide that will no longer be spewed in the atmosphere. Learn more about the Refrigerator and Freezer Recycling Program here of find out how you to get your own $50 rebate . You can also preview photos and videos of refrigerator recycling process or learn about SCE's other good clean deeds . ... Source: telecommunications.jobs.net --- 13 days ago

The Southern California Edison's CA New Homes Program (CANHP) can help. CANHP provides incentives to builders to help them offset the cost of energy efficiency upgrades. The two main requirements... ... Find more results for Southern California Edison on RSSMicro.com |
