I feel bad even mentioning this, but Sofia Coppola was at the Bon Marché yesterday at 5pm, looking at shoes with a petite blond woman and a teenage American girl. First I saw her around the Isabel Marant stand, we locked eyes (it’s weird to have the moment you notice a famous person also be the [...] ...

We adore a good love story, a film so romantic that the end will bring tears to your eyes. Our top indie romances include Richard Linklater's two-part French-American slacker love story "Before Sunrise" and "Before Sunset", David Lynch's "Wild At Heart", and Sofia Coppola's "Lost in Translation." ...

This is interesting... Sources are buzzing that Michelle Williams is seeing Drew Barrymore 's ex , Spike Jonze ! According to The Daily Mail , Michelle and the director and Michelle's daughter with Heath Ledger, Matilda , were seen boarding a plane to Oregon Wednesday. The twosome have been friends for about two years, hitting it off after having met through work-related events, but both were involved with others. "For the first time in two years, Michelle and Spike [who was also married to Sofia Coppola ] are both single, and because of the friendship they first developed in 2006, they have come together," a source told the London paper. "Having been friends first, they totally got to know each other first, without romance getting in the way, and Spike has been very supportive during this most difficult time for Michelle." Good for Michelle --she deserves to have some happiness back in her life. ...

In this Spike Jonze directed vid, Fab favorite Sofia Coppola plays Janet, an injured gymnast. With all the Olympics hoopla, this was the perfect FABTV for right now. Sofia looks every bit the part: feathered bangs, scrunchied pony, toned bod (but maybe too skinny, have you seen today's gymnasts ?). It's obvious it's not Sofia with the long shots and complicated maneuvers, but that just makes it more campy. I don't really pay attention to the music during the floor routines, but if someone chose The Chemical Brothers, that would be dope. I'm just sayin'. Drama-filled — oh no, did she injure her faulty ankle? — and easy on the eyes, watch to see if Janet wins another one for the trophy case. ...

Rachel Feinstein is that girl that all us regular girls want to be when we grow up. You know, beautiful, brilliant, stylish, talented and splashed across a Marc Jacobs ad campaign. She is a mother, a muse, Vogue Darling, a wife, fashion icon, and in her most lasting incarnation, a fine artist. She just published an anthology of her works from 1998-2008 available on Amazon , which has a forward by James Frey and an interview by Sofia Coppola . She invited us to a book signing last weekend in East Hampton. Lucky for me, Ms. Feinstein gave me more than just an autographed copy, she also supplied her thoughts about her art, her inspiration, and the state of fashion. I suppose I am most curious to know, who is the muse for the muse? As you have so publicly been the inspiration for so many others in your life, from Marc Jacobs to your artist husband John Currin, to whom do you turn for inspiration yourself? I find inspiration in objects. I don’t obsess over people. When I was a teenager I couldn't understand why my friends had a favorite rock star. I am excited by the Maine sunsets or a willow tree. I also find unnatural things inspirational, like a cheap, handmade sign made out of corrugated, colored cardboard advertising the free breakfast in a hotel. ...

---Quote--- Lutz Of Love 21 August 2008, 05:26PM JANE BIRKIN has always been the unofficial muse of luxe knitwear line Lutz & Patmos; now the veteran style icon is giving something back to the brand as its newest guest designer. "She has this really relaxed, nonchalant style without being overtly sexy, which is very sexy," explains Tina Lutz who, along with Marcia Patmos, founded the label in 2000 and can already name the likes of Christy Turlington, Carine Roitfeld, Liv Tyler, Kirsten Dunst and Sofia Coppola among its seasonal collaborators. According to WWD Lutz and Birkin discussed design ideas at the actress' Paris apartment in May, with her choosing an Italian-made organic cashmere for a knitted scoop neck vest with crochet details. Also included in the line is a wide V-neck with a raw-edge neckline, which Lutz describes as "a cool little sweater that can fall over one shoulder". While neither a launch date nor price points for the Birkin line have yet been announced, Lutz & Patmos has stamped its final seal of approval on its mainline spring/summer 2009 collection, which will be presented as part of New York Fashion Week on September 9. This week Frank Bruni files two shorter reviews for the Times instead of handing down his usual hefty decision on a single restaurant. He heads east to follow up on Sushi Yashuda on 43rd Street, declaring that from the time it opened "more than eight years ago, when William Grimes awarded it three stars in The New York Times, it has been among the best. And a recent visit suggested that there’s been no slippage, no drift." On the other hand , the expensive new urban rustic restaurant Forge, the premiere of Marc Forgione (son of famous chef Larry Forgione), is stillborn: Like Ziggy Marley or Sofia Coppola, Marc Forgione has chosen to follow in some daunting paternal footsteps ... I found the kitchen’s performance inconsistent, and on one visit the wait for food was ridiculously long, especially since the restaurant wasn’t crowded. It has scores of seats to fill, most alluringly in its spacious bar area. There you can enjoy house cocktails mixed with real thought, not just sops to the fashion of the times." Elsewhere in the Times , Julia Moskin surveys the food at various fancy cocktail lounges around town like Employees Only. For the Village Voice , Robert Sietsema goes way out in Brooklyn for great deals on seafood of "unspeakable freshness and size... The salt breezes that blow off Sheepshead Bay and into the open front of Yiasou ("Cheers") make it an incredibly pleasant place to dine... Unfortunately, it's better to get your vegetab ...

Filed under: Comedy , Interviews , Cinematical Indie Steve Coogan, 42, is perhaps best known for his TV persona, the part-arrogant, part-clueless sports announcer Alan Partridge. And though Coogan could go on playing him forever, he has instead used his budding American film career to branch out, try different things. His collaborations with "serious" director Michael Winterbottom were a good start; 24 Hour Party People (2002) and Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story (2006) earned rave reviews here in the States. He appeared opposite big stars such as Jackie Chan ( Around the World in 80 Days ) and Ben Stiller ( Night at the Museum , Tropic Thunder ) and answered the call of a handful of cult directors, making small appearances in films by Jim Jarmusch ( Coffee and Cigarettes ), Sofia Coppola ( Marie Antoinette ) and Edgar Wright ( Hot Fuzz ). His name appears alone above the title of his new film, Hamlet 2 , in which he plays Dana Marschz, a washed-up American actor now teaching drama at a Tucson high school. To save his class and his career, he writes a sequel to "Hamlet" that causes a huge ruckus. (Hint: it has something to do with "Sexy Jesus.") The one connecting factor with all these movies is that Coogan's characters are more or less awful, but compulsively watchable, people. Coogan -- who is conversely very nice in person -- recently chatted with Cinematical about his new movie. Cinematical: How did your gallery of humor ...

I'm just going to say it: Jane Birkin is the most stylish person of the 1960s. Her simple, decadent vibe inspired the most coveted fashion accessory to this day -- the Hermes Birkin bag. Thanks to sweater company Lutz + Patmos, we can all own a little cashmere piece of Birkin. Come September, Birkin herself will trek to New York to debut her new design. Each season, the company asks one insanely stylish lady or gentlemen to create a special-edition piece. Past collaborations have included French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld, stylist L'Wren Scott, and filmmaker Sofia Coppola. ...
