Windows smartphone owners who want a better web browser than the awful IE mobile have another option. The new Iris browser displays advanced HTML and CSS, much like browsers from Opera and Skyfire. I haven't given Iris to try it to see how it compares, but it certainly has at least one advantage over Opera Mobile -- it's free -- and one advantage over Skyfire -- it's not in closed beta so everyone can download it. No one has created anything approaching the perfect mobile browser yet, but it's nice to see so many companies trying. Each time I test a new mobile browser, I notice dramatic improvements.
