This weekend in Massachusetts, we got hit with our first real snowstorm of the season. It started Friday afternoon and lasted all the way until tonight - when it switched over to a nasty snow/sleet/rain mix. This meant that we couldn’t get out much this weekend. Stas and I did manage to get to the gym [...] ...

My poor Dad has to do all the Christmas shopping now, since Mom's not really able to do it anymore.  I don't think he really minds it, but he just doesn't known what to get everyone.  So he will pick up a couple little odds & ends for everyone (a can of honey-roasted peanuts, a box of candy, a new calendar, etc.) and then he and Mom will put money in envelopes and give that to all of us to make up for the lack of gifts they would normally give. Hey, I'm not complaining at all. Money comes in real handy and I'm grateful. But this year, someone, I don't know if it was Dad or Mom, played a little trick on me. In all honesty, I'm not sure if was even intended as such, but alas it hit the mark of being the Trick Gift. I went to visit my folks recently. My mother was put into the hospital with an intestinal blockage that she pretty much gave to herself. Yep, she really did. She has a lot of digestive problems, and I think she has an eating disorder as well (I think she is pretty much off her rocker, but of course it's like the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about in my family). In one day she inhaled a two or three packages of coconut macaroons, a dozen of those Sesame Seed-covered dough balls from the Chinese restaurant, and then later that evening piled a healthy load of lasagna on top of all that. By midnight she was in the ER with a blockage. This has happened several times before. So, they slapped her in the hospi ...

"And I've just finished the most incredible meal here at Bistro Citron." Brian d'Arcy James remembers his first public performance: singing "Piano Man" by Billy Joel at a school function in eighth grade. Influenced by a theater-loving sister and Uncle Brian Kelly, who played Porter Ricks in the sixties series Flipper , D'Arcy James studied acting at Northwestern. He's now putting his pipes to work for his college pal, director Jason Moore, as the lead in Broadway's newly opened Shrek the Musical . It takes two hours of makeup application to transform svelte D'Arcy James into a portly ogre. At first, the costume's heft convinced D'Arcy James he might slim down. He was "eating like a champ" until he gained weight. "Shrek can be fat, but I should try not to be," the actor decided. Check out D'Arcy James's New York Diet to read how to hulk up during opening week. Saturday, December 13 Usually my Saturdays, or any days, start with a trip to Starbucks or Lenny's — which is right around [the Broadway Theatre ] for a bagel and cream cheese and a cup of coffee. Nothing fancy for breakfast; I always get a Sesame-Seed bagel. And if it's not that, I'll have a raspberry scone at Starbucks. Saturdays is two shows so I don't eat too much. That usually gets me through the first show, believe it or not, and then I'll usually have Hale and Hearty soup. [I had] their chicken gumbo and half a turkey and cranberry sandwich. That's usually my dinner. ...

Getting sufficient essential fatty acids is importance in clearing acne. It's these fatty acids that help control the production of androgens - the hormones that surge during the teen-age times, which causes excess sebum oil to clog your hair follicle and contribute to creating your acne. The three fatty acids you need daily are omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9. You need more omega 6, olive oil, than omega 3. When you are deficient in the essential fatty acids, you will have, § A weaken immune system § Inflammatory disorders § Poor skin § Skin eruptions that won't heal § Increase sebum production causing acne § Sebaceous glands size increase Eating essential oils is necessary to provide the right oils that are used in the sebaceous glands. These oils can come from straight vegetable oils or from oils in specific foods such as nuts and seeds. Use flax Seed oil (omega-3 oil) and olive oil (omega-6 oil) in your salad. These are the best oils to eat and are called polyunsaturated fatty acids. The other oil that is even better for you is called monounsaturated fatty acid, omega-9. This oil is found in avocados. Most diets people have contain an excess of omega-6 oils, so mostly likely you need to concentrate on getting more omega-3 oils into your diet. You can get omega-3 oil from, § avocados § Sesame seeds § pumpkin seeds § walnuts § dark leafy green vegetables (spinach, mustard greens, kale) § wheat germ oil § salmon § sardin ...

Working Hard 3 Story's HIgh! The Float I worked on! I was so excited to be invited to help decorate the Rose Parade Floats ! I have always wanted to do this, but have never had the opportunity. So I drove on Down to Pasadena with a group of girls from my Youth Group and we got to have a AWESOME time working on these flouts. I got to work on the Western Assets Float, which was the "Leonardo Da Vinci" Float. Once we got there we were asked if anyone wasn't afraid of heights, so i spoke up and got to work high up on the third story of scaffolding at the very top of the float. It was AWESOME! I had so much fun gluing bark paper, Sesame Seed, walnut shells and tons of other seeds all over the float. It was one of the best memories of my life. The time flew by so fast we got there at 3:00pm and left around 11:00pm. Although i was covered in glue and had walnut shells in my shoes, it was a blast. I only wish i could have gone back today to help finish the float. However I am for sure doing this again and agian. Next Year here we come, this is going to be a new tradtion! So make sure you watch the Rose Parade tomorrow morning and look for my float! Read and post comments | Send to a friend ...

Crass, culturally unaware Americans once again invade the hinterland's of the world. The worst, most insensitive invasion of far away places in the history of advertising? or just great marketing?Madison Avenue and culture invasion - Burger King Whopper Virgins Will Decide. I suppose if I had to pick my number one "this really pisses me off" category it would have to be Western businesses using images of peoples of other cultures for their incessant war to increase their share of the world market....how insane will it get? ... Really? Does one really, unknowingly, and without information beforehand commit one's reputation and future to the impartial judging, by largely ignorant villagers, in remote places of the world....are you suicidal? Are we, the recipients of this media b.s., too stupid to figure out what what is going on here. Madison Avenue must think so. Is not one of the lures of foreign lands the different cuisines one will get to experience.... did I really come to China (choose your favorite spot in the world) to experience the Burger King vs. Big Mac competition.. can I not live without trans fats (banned in U.S.), fats, sauces piled on Sesame Seed buns (anything nutritional here?).....And, what about the endless digital images of villagers spitting out mouthfuls of garbage that they cannot stomach! Do we get to watch this reaction to a food they know nothing about? and do not enjoy. Not on your life! Much ado is made of ...
