In a new paper published in the online open-access journal PLoS ONE, http://dx.plos.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0003150 , David Pickar and colleagues of Gabriel Sciences report that 74.5% of 200 community-based schizophrenic patients, who were individually interviewed and evaluated (including a review of clinical records), were treated with off-label medication treatments. Specifically, 42.5% of subjects reported that they were simultaneously treated with more than one antipsychotic drug, an unapproved treatment for schizophrenia. The truth aft schizophrenia is that it is a chronic and severe disorder that disables the brain. It is said to affect about 1% of the population. Symptoms emerge in men in their late teens and early 20s and in women in their mid-20s to early 30s. They rarely occur after age 45 and only rarely before puberty. Here's a lovely clip from the West Wing. Said religious nutcase attempt to justify her homophobia by quoting Leviticus. This has always amazed me, actually; the tendency of the nastier variety of religious people to blame their own hatred on the ravings of dead Schizophrenics. "Oh, I'm all nice and loving my fellow man, but verse 19 in the Book of Goats says that people who use contraceptives are evil. Or that one mustn't machine-wash cats. The Aramaic is unclear. Something of that sort, anyway..." Oh, how very much I dislike them. Anyway, the president then responds by asking how much he should sell his daughter for, and various other absurd bible-sanctioned things. If only a real US president could take this tack with their resident loonies. ... Find more results for Schizophrenics on RSSMicro.com |
