Curt Schilling hasn't thrown a pitch for the Red Sox this season, but he's still managing to toss a few fastballs by New York fans. The rehabbing righthander shared his thoughts yesterday on reports of New Yorkers roaring with delight when Patriots quarterback Tom Brady went down with a knee injury Sunday. "The euphoria in New York is palpable," Schilling said during his weekly appearance on sports radio WEEI. "The Yankees suck this year and they are bitter and mad and making excuses over that. Now they got Tom [Brady] going down so New York's excited. It's unfortunate, but when you crawl to the top of the pile you will have people trying to knock you down." The Big Apple tabloids wasted no time jumping on Schilling's New York knock. The Post: Schilling RIPS NEW YORK FANS -- AGAIN : Schilling apparently forgot there are two baseball teams in New York - and the Mets are in first place. And another New York team, the Giants, beat Brady and the Patriots in last year's Super Bowl. But why let the facts get in the way of a perfectly good rant? After blasting New York fans for being enthused over Brady's injury, Schilling took the time to remind fans that he was a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks when they beat the Yankees in the 2001 World Series. "I was front row and center when their 'dynasty' ended," Schilling said. The Daily News also reported on Curt's comments and got some reaction from New York fans: "He's saying the truth," said ... Breaking news - Curt Schilling flapped his gums again, and insulted New Yorkers. Shocker, I know. He’s usually such a diplomat. Anyhow, yesterday he told the yakkers on WEEI that: “The Yankees suck this year, and they’re bitter and mad and they’re making excuses over that….Now they’ve got Tom [Brady] going down, so New York’s excited.” Schilling really doesn’t really get the whole New York fan breakdown, does he? Squawker Jon is a Jets fan. Of course he figures that Brady’s loss will hurt the Patriots. That doesn’t mean he’s cheering about it, though, or that it has anything to do with Jon being “bitter and mad” about the Yankees is ludicrous. Heck, Jon is just as happy as Boston fans are about the Yankees’ misfortunes this year! For Schilling to act as if there’s an automatic connection between being a Yankee fan and a Jet fan doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. It happens to be the case that many Jets fans are Mets fans, and many Giants fans are Yankee fans. It’s not like it is in Boston. Granted, I enjoyed the heck out of the Giants beating the Patriots in the Super Bowl this year, as a lot of Yankee fans did. But I am actually rooting against the Jets this year for two reasons: I cannot stand Brett Favre, and I like arguing with Jet fan Squawker Jon. So Brady’s loss actually hurts my rooting interests! No. 38 went on to say: “The euphoria in New York is palpable,” Schilling said when asked about Brady’s injury. “They want us t ... Source: slam.canoe.ca --- 2 hours ago
