RECENT FINDINGS: In contrast to the very high transplant-related mortality associated with the early experience of UCBT, recent series have been associated with comparable survival to that of human leucocyte antigen-matched URD transplantation in children with similarly promising results in adults with the use of double-unit grafts. In addition, utilization of reduced-intensity conditioning regimens has been successful extending access to patients unsuitable for myeloablation. Consequently, the use of umbilical cord blood as a HSC source and the global inventory of units in public banks is rapidly increasing although challenges associated with engraftment, unit quality, and infectious complications remain and will be discussed in this review. We sought to characterize mammary cancers in a congenic variant of the ACI rat, the ACI.COP-Ept2. All rats with estradiol implants developed mammary cancers in 5-7 months. Rats bearing estradiol-induced mammary cancers were treated with tamoxifen for three weeks. Tamoxifen reduced tumor mass, measured by magnetic resonance imaging, by 89%. Tumors expressed estrogen receptors (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), and Erbb2. ERalpha and PR were overexpressed in tumor compared to adjacent non-tumor mammary gland. RICHMOND, Va. - NASCAR's next generation Nationwide Series race car will get its first on-track test next week at Richmond International Raceway with more than a dozen drivers scheduled to participate. Each of the manufacturers is permitted to bring two cars to the test, scheduled Monday and Tuesday, weather permitting. The rain date is Wednesday. Drivers currently scheduled to take part include Clint Bowyer, Kevin Harvick, Johnny Sauter, Bryan Clauson, David Stremme, Carl Edwards, Colin Braun, Erik Darnell, David Reutimann and Josh Wise. Jeff Burton, Greg Biffle and Kyle Busch are also possible participants. After a solid effort over the weekend at the McQuaid Invitational, the Canandaigua girls cross country team didn’t suffer a letdown Tuesday afternoon. The Braves almost swept the entire top five in a five-team meet at Finger Lakes Community College. Only Red Jacket’s Marissa Liberati’s fifth-place finish prevented that. Finishing first was CA’s Jeannie Sauter in a time of 19:24. She was followed by teammates Meg McCormick in 19:34, Kellie Mack in 19:51 and Lauren D’Amore in 15:57. “This was Senior Night for us,” said CA coach Matt Ward. “So it was nice for Jeannie to get a win on her last home meet for us. It was nice to recognize Jeannie for her four years of contribution to our program.” North Rose-Wolcott and DeSales had no girls runners, while the highest Mynderse runner was Sierra Devine, who took sixth in 20:34. CA and Mynderse were the only complete girls teams, and CA (15-0) defeated the Blue Devils 16-46. In the boys race, Mynderse’s Shane Ruddy claimed first in  17:43. “That is a quality time on our course,” said Ward.
