Seoul Metropolitan Government will sponsor England Premier League football team Manchester United to promote tourism, the city said Friday. The 1.3 million pound (2.7 billion won) contract will be effective by next May, enabling 330 million football fans around the world to see 10-15 seconds of the ''Visit Korea, Discover Seoul'' slogan and ''Hi Seoul, Soul of Asia'' logo on digital signboards at the teams home ground, Old Trafford. The advertisements will be shown between six and eight times per match. ''The deal is expected to produce a 31.6 billion won marketing effect and boost publicity'' a city spokesman said. Korean Park Ji-sung plays for the British soccer club. The first advertisement was aired on Sept. 23 during the team's match with Middlesbrough.
