When we got there, Debby and Anne took us up the meeting room. We had to go through the warehouse to get up there! In the meeting room we tried six different fruits; they were mango, melon, strawberry, grape, pineapple and kiwi. My favourite was the red grape. The we went to see John at the meet counter and looked at the meat. After that we went to look at the fish. I held the fish: I stuck my finger in its mouth - its tongue felt like sandpaper! While anti-Scientology protesters are under attack for using the word "cult" elsewhere in the UK, their comrades in London have adopted a novel tactic for getting their message across. I spotted this sticker this lunchtime on a pedestrian crossing on Tottenham Court Road, just yards from Scientology's Dianetics centre. West London Man (WLM) has been to Sainsburys Homebase , purchased some charcoal, and a new barbecue. He has been to Macken Brothers in Chiswick for choice cuts of meat and sausages and he has petrol or firelighters. West London Man is also mildly inebriated and about to commit the first of many social atrocities of the coming summer. Ordinarily, West London Man does not cook. He is a City professional or in Telly... somewhere. He eats sushi by day and M&S prepared meals by night - or eats out. It is possible that West London Man drives an Audi, BMW or Mercedes... anything is possible.... but not saloons, of course.... and he may well have paid more for a model with no roof... for better road visibility... of him. It is curious how men who do not know how to cook, never cook at home, suddenly find themselves possessed of chef skills when the first hot summer sun appears. The barbecue is set up. West London wife / girlfriend looks on with mounting horror / amusement / disdain / love / adoration (*) as WLM puts a butcher's apron on. WLM would never, of course, be so crass as to have one of those comedy aprons with an image of a woman in black underwear and stockings printed on it. Grrr.. Why is it that when I go into a shop of late I'm always stuck behind some muppet in the queue ? On Wednesday I popped into Sainsburys to get some baby milk, but somehow I managed to get stuck behind a guy who wanted to pay for his shopping using the exact change. I hate these people, especially when you're in a rush. There he was, reaching deep into his man-bag, saying, "Oh, I've got the 5p somewhere. Hang on, I'll give you the £12 in the change I have here somewhere." Out it all came... 50p pieces, 10p, 20p, another 50p. I nearly started applauding when he found a £2 coin. So then, after I'd paid for my stuff the quicker way (chip 'n pin baby), I went to the chip shop. I queued up and waited for my turn. Just one more person stood between me and the lovely chip lady. Then, guess what... ..the list appeared... "Fish and chips twice, kebab and chips twice, three pots of mushy peas, sausage and chips twice - one battered, one not..." Finally, after what seemed like hours, the fat sweaty cow paid up and pushed her fat arse out of the door. Next it was me.. Ha! " Just two bags of chips please", said I... "We're just waiting for chips love, it'll be two minutes", she replies. GRR!!! What ?! That tubby woman has wobbled off with all the good chips - I'm left waiting for a fresh batch to be made. But hey, after 20 seconds... "They're ready.." Oh, no they're bloody not. I'm not chip-shop expert, but 20 seconds is quite clearly not enoug ...
