The fish SHELL is a modern command-line SHELL that aims to be more discoverable and less beholden to tradition than other shells like bash and csh. Among its many unique features are on-the-fly syntax highlighting of the command line, as well as tab completion for everything under the sun with descriptions for each possible completion. Unfortunately, this SHELL does not ship with Mac OS X, so you'll need to do some work to install it. First, download and install MacPorts . Here's a press release: SHELL Gives $25,000 for Hurricane Relief By Analiz González Buckner International SAN CARLOS, Texas-- SHELL Exploration & Production donated $25,000 on Aug. 15 to Buckner International's hurricane relief efforts in the Rio Grande Valley. "This donation will help purchase materials to repair and reconstruct the homes of people who don't qualify for FEMA," said Jorge Zapata, director of the Buckner International colonia program. "It will be a blessing to the community." Hundreds of people were left without homes after Hurricane Dolly hit the Gulf Coast on July 23, and those who lived in the 700 colonias in the Valley region lost what little they had. In 1997, SHELL Exploration & Production collaborated with Buckner in the creation of Shareable Wearables, a clothing drive collecting new or gently-worn clothing for children in the Valley who would otherwise start the school year in torn, stained or ill-fitting clothes. Although SHELL is no longer a co-collaborator of Shareable Wearables, Buckner continues to benefit from its donations. Author(s): Y. Alhassid, L. Fang, and H. Nakada We extend the SHELL model Monte Carlo approach to heavy deformed nuclei using a new proton-neutron formalism. The low excitation energies of such nuclei necessitate low-temperature calculations, for which a stabilization method is implemented in the canonical ensemble. We apply the method to study a well-deformed rare-earth nucleus, ^{162} Dy. The single-particle model space includes the 50–82 SHELL plus 1f_{7/2} orbital for protons and the 82–126 SHELL plus 0h_{11/2} , 1g_{9/2} orbitals for neutrons. We show that the spherical SHELL model reproduces well the rotational character of ^{162} Dy within this model space. We also calculate the level density of ^{162} Dy and find it to be in excellent agreement with the experimental level density, which we extract from several experiments. [Phys. Rev. As Facing South previously reported , Louisiana’s Governor Bobby Jindal made an important commitment last week to spending a billion dollars in state funds on coastal restoration and protection projects in the coming years. But many coastal activists continue to point out that in order to restore the coast and to fully protect Gulf communities, much larger investments will have to be made. Since oil and gas companies have played an integral part in destroying Louisiana’s coastline, these activists argue that these companies should have to pay up to restore it. Yesterday, a group of environmentalists demanded that SHELL Oil Co. “fix the coast you broke” when they attempted to deliver the corporation a bill for $362 million for the cost of restoring wetlands that the company has destroyed, reports the Times-Picayune. Dredging by oil companies such as SHELL has contributed to erosion of the coast, leaving the region more vulnerable to hurricanes. The coalition of activists from grassroots groups such as Gulf Restoration Network and Advocates for Environmental Human Rights called on SHELL to pay the money to the state’s Coastal Protection and Restoration Trust Fund, where it could be added to other offshore drilling revenue to help rebuild wetlands and build levees.
