I am trying to find an 8 port Router that allows dhcp reservations. The caveat: the company I am doing this for doesn't want to spend a lot of money on it ($100 give or take). Can anyone suggest a good Router that does DHCP reservations? -- I'd take the time to insult your intelligence, but you probably wouldn't get it. ...

I'm a complete noob when it comes to networking... I'll start with that. I've spent two days now trying to open an internet connection through my newly purchased LinkSyS BEFSR41 Router. System Specs: WinXP SP2 Westell Wirespeed B90-210015-04 Modem Verizon DSL BEFSR41 Router (4-Port) I've done everything LinkSyS has asked of me, and followed every piece of self-help troubleshooting they have on their website... to no avail. I have already changed my Router setting to 192.168.1.2 (to avoid the conflict with the modem's 192.168.1.1 setting and a known issue with LinkSyS Routers/Verizon ISP). As of right now, I can access my Router's settings but can't get my WinXP SP2 Desktop to link to the internet. My Netgear FA311 LAN card recognizes the Router connection as good... but there's no link between the Internetz and my computer. I sit and watch as the Router/Modem communicate (via their mesmerizing flashing green lights) but the Router will stay in an endless "connecting" loop when I check its status (on it's setting page). I have the current firmware for the Router/drives for the Netgear FA311. I tried to update my Westell 2100 modem but it won't allow me to access it via my browser (so I can't update it's firmware). I think my issue is I have to set my modem to "bridge" but I can't access its settings page. Anyone here have a Westell 2100 modem successfully linked to the Internetz through a LinkSyS wired (preferably a BEFSR41 m ...

Yes, I came from qwest service where I had this wireless Router setup. I moved to comcast service and they gave me a RCA (Thomson) modem. i can only hook up one computer at a time. I want to use the 2wire 270 to set up a wireless system. I hook it to the modem and my computers say it is connected with an excellent signal, but no pages will load. I've turned off all firewalls, virus scanners, etc. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated. ...

Can someone please help me, I live In Australia and my Daughter is in Canada, I gave her a configured Lynksis ATA box VOIP configured to work so we can communicate, but the ATA VOIP will not work on her Dlink WBR 2310 Router which is a Wireless Router, Yet when she connects her old Router all is fine and working. I am configuring her computer through Logmein. This is what I have done, I have Port Forwarded Port 5060, I have enabled DNZ host and gave it the ATA box IP Address, still not working. I tried to call Dlink Help desk but their 1 800 number will not except calls outside Canada, I tried calling the Help desk in USA but they refuse to help because the Router was purchased in Canada. I Called Dlink in Australia, but they don't have this model in Australia , and no knowledge or specks of it. I am getting very frustrated with Dlink support and at this point I would not recommend it it to anyone So Please someone help me John3840 ...

I think my 9 year old, and heretofore reliable, DLink Dl-704 Router is finally giving up the ghost. If I'm correct, I'd like to simply buy a wired Router (since the wires are already in place) to replace it. What is a simple to install Router that will keep AT&T as well as the modem I have happy. Any recommendations? Testing with the Router yesterday and today I get download/upload kbps speeds of: 635/178 495/72 444/65 Without the Router and straight through the Speadstream 5260 DSL modem: 1286/626 1236/637 Thx, Donn ...

Hello, I have noticed my internet speed tends to degrade over time. If I test the speed, sometimes I get 10/1.5. Connecting to the Router and rebooting seems to fix this and immediately after, I get 15/1.8. I don't do any file transfer or P2P, just web browsing and XBox live. Ideas? Bad Router? ...

Hi Everyone. I've been struggling with my Cable Company and my many routers that I have purchased (3 to be exact). I'm using a Surfboard 5120 Motorola modem that my cable company has provided me and a Netgear Wireless G Router and I CAN'T GET MY CONNECTION TO STABILIZE WITH ONE OF MY Router CONNECTED TO IT. I have called my cable company and they say it's the Router... so I called my Router's 1-800 number and they say it's my cable company. I'm getting a: "IGMP: ERROR - Group address 0.0.0.1 is not a legal multicast" message when I log into my modem's IP Address. I've never seen this message before unless the Router was failing but now I'm seeing it all the time, even without the Router connected to the modem and I'm still ABLE to access the internet too. However, this is not the case when I connect the Router in series with modem. I've also checked all of my signals and they are fine: Downstream...............................Value Frequency................................687000000 Hz Signal to Noise Ratio....................35 dB QAM......................................QAM256 Network Access Control Object............ON Power Level..............................-4 dBmV Upstream.................................Value Channel ID...............................4 Frequency................................31000000 Hz Ranging Service ID.......................2741 Symbol Rate..............................2 ...

Hello, I am using a PC (WinXP, Core 2 Duo Processor, Intel 946GZis motherboard) and am using the integrated LAN card to connect to the internet. My ISP gives the network connection by sharing it through a Ethernet Switch. And my PC is connected to that switch located outside my premises. They keep my MAC address and I cannot plug the ethernet cable to another PC to connect it to internet unless telling them to change my MAC address in their server. Now I want to share this internet connection with another PC. Is it possible that I connect this Ethernet cable to a Wireless Router, and use cloned MAC address and then connect my existing PC and the other PC to the Router. What kind of Router should I buy for this purpose, and what are the special specifications? I haven't used a wireless Router ever. And will the ISP be able to tell that I am using such a connection? Thanks very much P.S. I am planning to buy this one as this one looks cheap. Please comment if possible.
