Remember that crazy Rotating apartment building in Dubai? The one designed by the architect who lied on his resume and has never designed a Skyscraper before? (Don't worry, he feels like he's ready.) Apparently, the building has received more than 600 reservations, including 140 from the U.S. Curbed : And now, an update on Dubai's Dynamic Tower -which, if you don't recall-is the single biggest mindfuck of our time...So, how is the sales drive going after that big Plaza hotel kick-off event? You wouldn't believe us if we told you, so instead well just quote from the press release we got. Following the opening of the reservations list for the world's first Dynamic Tower in Dubai, more than 600 requests have been submitted for residential apartments , Rotating Tower Dubai Development Ltd. announced today. The revolutionary building, designed by Italian architect David Fisher, was first announced at a press conference in New York City on June 24. Over 140 reservation requests have arrived from the United States , followed by the UK (94) and Australia (57), as well as Italy, China, New Zealand, and other countries throughout the world. More than 50 reservations were submitted specifically for the Dynamic Tower's luxury villas, with prices starting at 20 million Euros (US $30 million). New requests continue to be submitted for all types of apartments. Wait, not only are foreigners keeping our condo market afloat, but now the American b ...

Most Rotating floors of a high rise are relegated to the topmost floor, which is usually a restaurant. Not so for David Fisher’s Dynamic Tower. EACH of its 80 floors rotates. It will take up to 3 hours for a floor to make its 360 degree trip. The tower will generate its own power from photovoltaic solar cells and 79 wind turbines, one of which will be located between each floor. The estimated cost for one of these buildings clocks in at about $700 mil. So far two are on order. One for Moscow and one for–no surprise–Dubai. Dubai’s “Dynamic Tower”, a $US700 million ($A732.9 million) Rotating, shifting, rippling Skyscraper, has been unveiled by architect David Fisher for a planned 2010 opening. The tower, which will be entirely self-sufficient, harnessing the power of the wind rather than fighting the forces, as is always the problem with such a large structure. There will be 80 apartments [...] ...

Preview of World's First Rotating Skyscraper Preview of World's First Rotating Skyscraper The Associated PressArchitect Dr. David Fisher unveiled the Dynamic Tower, the world's first building in motion. The rotate skyscrapers, which are planned worldwide, have floors which rotate independently to create a building that constantly changes shape. (June 24) Is it the Skyscraper of the future? Or just a "pie in the sky" idea? Italian architect David Fisher unveiled in New York the design for what he's calling the world's first "building in motion." It's an 80-story residential tower with revolving floors, ostensibly set for construction in Dubai this fall. (David Fisher, Architect) "It's the first building that is dynamic, changing its' shape. You can adjust the shape any given moment." Fisher says he is also slated to build one of the "dynamic" buildings in Moscow, and, he hopes, New York City. He says the buildings also double as power generators: wind turbines on every floor will provide power. "Wind has a very negative affect on skyscrapers we all know. So I say 'why do we want to fight the wind?' Why don't we use the wind, to our own benefit? The Dubai condos are going for three-thousand dollars a square foot. Lifts will allow penthouse residents to park their cars right in their apartments. Fisher says the building parts will be prefabricated in a factory in Italy then assembled at the final location. The Associated Press: Italian architect David Fisher said he is poised to start construction on a new Skyscraper in Dubai that will be "the world's first building in motion,'' an 80 story tower with revolving floors that give it an ever shifting shape. (June 25)It may look like something out of a science fiction movie....But David Fisher showed up in New York Tuesday, saying that he was poised to build the world's first moving building in Dubai. SOT: David Fisher, Architect and Creator of Dynamic Tower: "First of all, it's the first building that is being, that is dynamic, changing the shape. You can adjust the shape the way you like every given moment. The model being pitched is an 80-story Skyscraper with revolving floors ... That would provide residents with a constantly changing view of the Persian Gulf. A few apartments that would take up entire floors would be able to spin on command, the rest of the building rotated in patterns that could be altered over time. SOT Fisher: It's designed by life, shaped by time. But movement isn't the only unique feature about this building, designers say they plan to build it all in a factory in Italy.... When its complete, they'll ship the structure to Dubai...where they hope it will be ready for offices and residents by 2010. And for those of you worried about getting dizzy?....Fisher says not to worry....he says the rotations will be slow enough that they won't be noticed. ...

Totally wiiild Italian architect Dr. David Fisher announced plans this week for Rotating skyscrapers in Dubai and Moscow, according to the NY Daily News . Fisher says the idea came to him while he was enjoying the view from a friend's Manhattan apartment (probably nuts on hallucinogens) and imagined a building "where everybody can see the East River and the Hudson River." From the article: The Dubai tower, set to be completed in 2010, will be 80 stories tall, housing office space, a hotel, and apartments. Each floor will rotate independently at a different speed, giving the building a constantly changing shape. In the apartments on the highest floors, owners will set the direction of rotation through a system that responds to voice commands in three languages. The perk doesn't come cheap - apartments will sell at $3,000 per square foot - with the largest ones going for a whopping $38 million. The tower will also make all its own energy and electricity for neighboring buildings with wind turbines placed between floors. Fisher has suggested that the building -- called the Dynamic Tower -- would be a beautiful addition to the Manhattan skyline, and hopes to build a third incarnation of the project here.
