Hi there I have just made my first Redemption booking on ROP. and need some advice from you more regular TG members to see if this has been your experience. Monday night: I call TG in BKK to book a Redemption on J Class KUL/SIN/MEL on SQ for Oct. Agent tells me seats available (there's even a choice of flights!), it'll cost me 110,000 miles. I am booked on the flights I want, agent tells me to contact my local Kuala Lumpur office, otherwise booking will be cancelled by 6pm Tuesday. Tuesday morning: Busy day for me, so I get my TA to call TG in KUL. They tell her the tax I need to pay, and if I want the booking to allow plenty of time before 6pm for issuing. Fine, I can decide by the afternoon - or allow the booking to lapse; after all, it seems there are seats... Tuesday afternoon:I let my TA know to let booking lapse as my trip is not confirmed; she calls TG only to be told "authorization code" had been received to issue ticket, 110,000 miles deducted already. My TA protested that this authorization was unlikely to come from me since I just told her to let booking lapse. TG staff only said BKK authorized. TG staff in KUL said: Miles are deducted immediately a booking is confirmed. That's strange to me: especially when I wasn't even told about it when I first made the booking on the phone - is this normal, or was KUL TG fobbing me off? What was even stranger is that the 6pm deadline (set by SQ) came, and my booking was actually cancel ...
