'Newspapers slightly scare me now because they're so frenetic and angry," says Sarah Sands, the former editor of the Sunday Telegraph, erstwhile consultant editor at the Daily Mail, deputy editor of the Daily Telegraph, diary editor of the London Evening Standard and cub reporter on the Sevenoaks Courier. "People are not obsessed by the news agenda – they will go on a long walk or they will help someone. In the press, it's a very partial view of how people live and their fears. On the whole the things that make people happy are a long walk and ... well, a long walk." ...

I realize that the title of this blog post sounds like that of a gushing press release, but I'm understandably proud of myself today. If you didn't know (and how could you not), in addition to running this blog into the ground, I also am Research Director for IndexCreditCards.com , a site that compares credit card offerings for consumers & small businesses as well as offering credit news, consumer tips, etc., etc., and so forth. Not to toot my own horn, but the title Research Director hardly does justice to the monumental part I play in making that site what it is —- I'm practically running it singlehandedly, to be perfectly honest with you. (Hopefully my boss won't read this.) Anyway, the October issue of Reader's Digest features a cover article "Get a Great Deal on Anything" , and within the "Get Rewarded for Shopping" section is this salute to my genius: Indexcreditcards.com compares credit card features and rewards. Browse through 1,224 offers and choose the benefits you want. You'll find low-interest cards, student credit cards, bad-credit cards, prepaid credit cards, frequent-flier cards, and cash-back-for-gas cards. With the Chase Freedom credit card, earn 3 percent cash back on purchases in the three categories you spend the most on each month-for your family, that might be groceries, gas, and fast food. Racing enthusiasts may go for the NASCAR RacePoints Visa so they can earn points toward experiences-driving on the trac ...
