If you're looking for a luxury SUV that's every bit as good off-road as it is on, then look no further than the 2006 Range Rover HSE. The Range Rover has all the bells and whistles you expect to find in a luxury sport utility vehicle, but it goes off-road with ease. ...

Its name is a mouthful and its gas tank seems bottomless; the best analogy that comes to mind for Cars.com reviewer Bill Jackson is an NFL lineman. So does Land Rover’s 2009 Range Rover Sport power past the competition? Unfortunately for Land Rover, Jackson chose that analogy not only because it sums up the Range Rover Sport’s strengths, but also its obvious weaknesses. To find out why the luxury SUV doesn’t come away a hands-down winner, read the full review below. 2009 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Expert Review ...

Now this is what a $60,000-plus SUV should be like. I drove the Toyota Land Cruiser and was distinctly underwhelmed and put off by its price and impracticality. Now, I grant you, this Land Rover is not a true Weekend Athlete car (waaaaay too dressy) but it does show that a fancy car can still be capable in this test. For starters, unlike some other Land Rover products and the aforementioned Toyota, there isn't a clamshell hatch. That is awesome, because clamshell openings generally stink. When open, they force you to lean and reach over the bottom half of the clamshell to get your toys, and that can be tough, whether you're tall or short. In a throwback to SUVs of old, the Range Rover Sport does allow you to open the rear glass independent of the full hatch. This is still the best way to handle a hatch, I think. It carries gear well, but it should, seeing as it's just larger than a battleship and slightly smaller than an aircraft carrier. I've never understood why my English friends give Americans a hard time for owning SUVs when their beloved Land Rovers are such arks. Where was I? Oh, yes, take yourself and three people camping in this and you'll be fine. Also, if you're a bike racer, the bike slides right in — no need to remove a wheel. However, it's not all strawberries and cream with the Range Rover Sport. That rear hatch that's so nicely designed? It's fine for me, but I really think it opens high enough to be uncomfortable ...

Driving the Range Rover Sport in downtown Phoenix, I encountered a young guy in a full-size Range Rover that was all tarted up with chrome accessories and gigantic chrome spoke wheels shod with skinny swaths of tire. Obviously, the Range Rover's impressive off-road capabilities had been sacrificed for urban bling. Seems a shame that the pre-eminent boondocker should be turned into a hollow fashion statement. But so it goes, and more often than not, this is the treatment you'll see on Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. These pricey British SUVs are not likely to be driven in harsh terrain anyway, so I suppose they may as well relinquish the claim and go strictly for the eyeball. Which was why I was not surprised to find the test Sport wearing street tires rather than sturdy all-terrain rubber. They wouldn't last long on Arizona's rocky trails, but they provided a smooth ride and gripped the asphalt in turns. The Sport, based on the Land Rover LR3, is a surprisingly agile SUV that handles well and drives with solid confidence. Despite weighing close to 5,500 pounds, the stylish craft feels more like a well-sorted luxury car than a heavy truck. There's an extensive level of off-road features, including a console dial for choosing various types of terrain, such as muddy road or desert trail, as well as electronic settings for hill descent and low-Range four-wheel drive. Land Rover products are renowned for their ability to go nearly anywh ...

Filed under: Water , Wheels Luxury yacht brokerage Edmiston has commissioned seven avant-garde marine designers to come up with a nautical-themed take on Land Rover 's classic Range Rover. The entry shown here, by self-described "yacht design pioneer" Dickie Bannenberg , features wooden side panels and a tailgate that folds into a nautical-style wooden bench, complete with champagne holders, while the rear windshield converts into a sun visor to shade it. The winner of the design competition will be announced on Sept. 25th during the Monaco Yacht Show , one of the megayacht community's biggest annual events. Visitors to the show will be able to custom order a Range Rover in any of the seven designs, with a delivery time of three to six months and a price Range of about $300,000 - $1.2 million. Filed under: BMW , Land Rover , On Two Wheels , Green Daily , UK The Grill of a Land Rover... a British cyclists worst nightmare? Who are the worst drivers on the road? Hmm, we can think of a few... like women who apply mascara while driving, teens sending texts while driving, and, of course, those who have had a few too many drinks. But, what about labeling drivers by the type or brand of cars that they drive? That is exactly what has taken place in Britain, as cyclists who share the roads with the cagers have taken a vote to determine the worst of the worst. The winner, uh, we mean losers? Range Rover drivers. While we don't see all that many on our roadways in the United States, the original British 'utes must really be clogging the streets in the U.K., riding right on the back tires of the pedalers. Also coming up on the short list of bad drivers are drivers of white vans (color matters?), followed by smug BMW drivers and elderly drivers who move too slowly, even for cyclists apparently.
