The current occupant, “Verdict With Dan Abrams” will have its last telecast Thursday night. Mr. Abrams will continue his role as chief legal correspondent for NBC News and MSNBC. He will expand his role as a contributor to "Dateline NBC" and "Today" and do some dayside anchoring on MSNBC. In June 2006, Mr. Abrams was tapped to be general manager of the cable channel, a role he relinquished 15 months later to return to hosting a weeknights show. Ms. Maddow has proved, in her stints as a substitute for Keith Olbermann on “Countdown,” that she has Mr. Olbermann’s way with words but a less polarizing delivery. "Rachel is unbelievably talented and brilliant; her breadth and depth of knowledge of politics and news is astonishing and I'm so excited to give her a place to really showcase what she can do," said MSNBC President Phil Griffin said in Wednesday’s announcement. "We've established MSNBC as the place for politics and the destination for viewers who want the smartest take on the day's developments. Adding Rachel into our prime-time lineup make ...
