Some years ago Gribov developed the so-called supercritical light Quark confinement scenario. Based on physical arguments he conjectured a drastic change in the analytical properties of the Quark propagator when the back-reaction of Goldstone bosons (pions) is considered. We investigate this scenario and provide numerical solutions for the Quark propagator in the complex plane with and without the pion back-reaction. We find no evidence for the scenario Gribov advocated. As an aside we present a novel method to solve the Quark Dyson-Schwinger equation in the complex plane and discuss new characteristics of dynamical chiral symmetry breaking in our truncation scheme. ... Author(s): Jorge Noronha, Giorgio Torrieri, and Miklos Gyulassy The near zone energy-momentum tensor of a supersonic heavy Quark jet moving through a strongly coupled N=4 super Yang-Mills (SYM) plasma is analyzed in terms of first-order Navier-Stokes hydrodynamics. It is shown that the hydrodynamic description of the near Quark region worsens with increasing qua... [Phys. Rev. C 78, 024903] Published Thu Aug 14, 2008 ... Source: prc.aps.org --- 19 days ago
Author(s): Paul M. Chesler and Laurence G. Yaffe The stress-energy tensor of a Quark moving through a strongly-coupled N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills plasma, at large N_{c} , is evaluated using gauge/string duality. The accuracy with which the resulting wake, in position space, is reproduced by hydrodynamics is examined. Remarkable agreement is found between hydrodynamics and the complete result down to distances less than 2/T away from the Quark. In performing the gravitational analysis, we use a relatively simple formulation of the bulk to boundary problem in which the linearized Einstein field equations are fully decoupled. Our analysis easily generalizes to other sources in the bulk. [Phys. Rev. D 78, 045013] Published Thu Aug 14, 2008 ... Source: prc.aps.org --- 33 days ago
Author(s): Xian-Hui Zhong and Qiang Zhao We carry out a systematic study of the heavy-light meson strong decays in a chiral Quark model. For the S-wave vectors [D^{*} (2007), D^{*±} (2010)], P-wave scalars [D_{0}^{*} (2400), B_{0}^{*} (5730)], and tensors [D_{2}^{*} (2460), D_{s2}^{*} (2573)], we obtain results in good agreement with the experimental data. For the axial vectors D_{1} (2420) and D_{1}^{′} (2430), a state mixing scheme between 1 ^{1} P _{1} and 1 ^{3} P _{1} is favored with a mixing angle ϕ≃-(55±5)°, which is consistent with previous theoretical predictions. The same mixing scheme also applies to D_{s1} (2460) and D_{s1} (2536) that accounts for the narrow width of the D_{s1} (2536) and its dominant decay into D^{*} K. For B_{1} (5725) and B_{1}^{′} (5732), such a mixing explains well the decay width of the former but leads to an even broader B_{1}^{′} (5732). Predictions for the strange-bottom axial vectors are also made. For the undetermined meson D^{*} (2640), we find that they fit well in the radially excited state 2 ^{3} S _{1} according to its decay mode. The newly observed D_{sJ}^{*} (2860) strongly favors the D-wave excited state 1 ^{3} D _{3} . For D_{sJ}^{*} (2632) and D_{sJ}^{*} (2690), we find they are difficult to fit in any D_{s} excitations in that mass region, if the experimental data are accurate. Theoretical predictions for decay modes of those unobserved states as multiplets of 2S and 1D waves are also ... Source: prd.aps.org --- 17 days ago
Author(s): Adi Armoni, Biagio Lucini, Agostino Patella, and Claudio Pica We study quenched SU(N) gauge theories with fermions in the two-index symmetric, antisymmetric and the adjoint representations. Our main motivation is to check whether at large number of colors those theories become nonperturbatively equivalent. We prove the equivalence assuming that the charge-conj... [Phys. Rev.
