My test's are done and summer has officailly started! I passed most of my classes except drama maybe, not too sure about that one and I only got 2 or 3 credits in Industrial arts instead of the whole 5 but thats no big deal. I already even have a kick ass plan for the summer. The majority of the plan involves beating most of the games I put on hold including Mass effect,Dead rising,Psychonauts and halo 3 . I also plan on buying a new PSP once I get my new drum set. I am also going to loiter more. Its Bad ass. And I have nothing to write about. Oh well, list time! Looking back in my gaming moments in 2007 I had a lot of good memories (Half Life 2: EP2, Psychonauts). Things weren’t all golden though, and here’s why: Bioshock’s Hacking Minigame Bioshock is an amazing game. The atmosphere, the story, the action, all dandy. However, all of these get shat upon once I have to do another hacking minigame. No seriously, you’re there in this scary world filled with evil little girls, big men in diving suits and lunatic citizens and it ALL waits for you as you connect water tubes. In the beginning I guess the mini-game can be a little fun, because you don’t know it much. But after the 234th time you solve it, having powers to slow it down (freezing or through those level up thingies), you feel completely retarded. Big Daddy: It’s okay dude, we’ll just wait here while you fix that turret. Crysis I may be the only person in the world who doesn’t think Crysis is fun nor pretty. 2 Hours into this game and I realized that the fore-mentioned Bioshock mini-game was less annoying. Let’s not even mentioning setting my computer on fire by running this shit on medium. Call of Duty 4 (SP) Yeah whatever, you probably loved this game. I really really don’t get what’s so great about this game. Psychonauts is based on the exploits of Raz, a young boy gifted with psychic abilities who escapes the circus to try to sneak into a summer camp for those with similar powers in order to become a "Psychonaut". He finds that there is a sinister plot occurring at the camp that only he can stop from happening. The game is centered on the widely strange and imaginative minds of various characters that Raz enters as a Psychonaut-in-training in order to help them overcome their fears or memories of their past in order to gain their help and progress in the game. There was an interesting feature on the importance of a film's name to its success in The Sunday Age on the weekend, which prompted Screen Play to ponder whether some of the games that regularly feature in "unappreciated gems" lists were actually just badly titled. Take a look at this list of recent games that did not sell as well as they deserved: Ico, Psychonauts, Okami, Shadow of the Colossus, Patapon, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure, and Beyond Good and Evil. We won’t learn anything new about Tim Schafer ’s Jack Black -starring rock action game, “Brutal Legend,” next week. “Brutal Legend” will not be making an appearance at E3, Schafer told me over e-mail today. But “Psychonauts” fans need not worry; the game doesn’t appear in trouble. “We’re not going to be showing at E3, but soon after that we hope,” said Schafer. “As soon as the dust settles from this whole [ Activision Blizzard ] merger thing we should be able to talk about the game a lot more.” The last we heard of “Brutal Legend” was from Black himself at the MTV Movie Awards last month . The actor-comedian-musician was sporting a “Brutal Legend” t-shirt and told MTV News’ Kim Stolz thathis new game was “coming someday.” Schafer’s comment comes on the same day the Activision Blizzard merger was approved by Activision shareholders. It looks like the Activision - Vivendi merger has also affected Psychonauts creator Tim Schafer 's new third-person action title, Brutal Legend . Talking to MTV Multiplayer, Schafer said that further announcements about the game have been put on hold until after "the dust settles from this whole [ Activision Blizzard ] merger thing". Those looking for updates during E3 will also be disappointed as Schafer has confirmed that Brutal Legend will be a no-show. The Activision-Vivendi merger will be made final today , so we can probably look forward to learning more stuff about Eddie Riggs and the axe of the heavy metal gods soon. In die Horde der Spiele, die im Angesicht des Publikums kommerziell versagen, aber von der Kritik überschwänglich aufgenommen wurden, reihen sich auch Geheimtipps ein wie z.B. Psychonauts, Zack & Wiki, ICO (das lege ich euch besonders ans Herz), Beyond Good & Evil oder auch Eternal Darkness. Was ist diesen Spiele gemein? Sie werden von Seiten wie IGN.com & Co. hartnäckig, ohne Unterlaß beworben, dass es einem fasst schon nervt. Es werden Lobeshymnen orchestral angestimmt, die in zehn Jahren aufgrund ihrer bloßen Quantität noch nicht verklingen werden. Speziell Psychonauts wurde in den letzten Jahre von der Presse und Videospiel-Seiten massiv umgarnt. Spielern wurde vorgeworfen, sie würden Qualität übersehen oder träfen die falschen Kaufentscheidungen. Mit der Konsequenz, dass solche kreativen Ergüsse am Markt von massenkompatibleren Produktionen niedergerungen werden. Fast bekommt man ein schlechtes Gewissen, wenn man als eingefleischter Fan bekennt: “Nein, ich habe Psychonauts nie gespielt.” Als Nicht-Besitzer bekommt man dann zumindest eine stillschweigende Ohrfeige.
