Why is the display painting so noticeably slower under 2 virtual Processors as opposed to 1 virtual processor? I'm running VMWare Fusion 1.13 Windows XP (fully updated) under OSX Leopard (fully updated) on a Mac Pro Dual Quad 3GHz Xeon (MacPro2,1) w/ 16GB RAM. Windows XP is configured for 3GB RAM and 128MB Video Ram 2048x1492x32bit. Applications where noticeable difference: Photoshop CS3 (dialogs very slow to display) Office 2003 applications. Especially Access when opening a table in full screen mode. Each field of each record can be seen being painted on screen for several seconds before rest of page is displayed... Under 1 processor, screen display is immediate. ... Source: www.powerpage.org --- 2 hours ago

Intel is expected to release the first of several Processors based on a system-on-chip (SoC) design today. Slated for the embedded processor market for applications such as storage, home entertainment and telecommunications, the new Intel Ep80579 Integrated Processor will include a CPU core, an integrated memory controller and an I/O hub controller. Some of the chips will also include a fourth component which is an accelerator technology for devices such as VPNs. The CPU core is developed around Intel's Pentium M processor with future plans to migrate to the newer Atom processor. Intel claims the new SoCs are smaller and less power hungry than previous designs and will come with a seven-year product support cycle. ... Source: www.net-security.org --- 1 day ago

Hi to all at tech support forum - first post so im sorry if its the wrong secion or just wrong in general! I have a machine im currently working on - randomly reboots. I want to check its not overheating so would like a temperature logger. Do any of you know if there are any that work in a machine with 2(2 physical, both dual core) intel Xeon 5160s? Even if you don't know of one any input related to the random reboots is appreciated. Oh yeah just so you know its an IBM Intellistation Z pro type 9228. Thanks. ... An interesting comment popped up after my “manifesto for microphilanthropy” post. In it, it was suggested that micropayment was important for microphilanthropy. I disagree, and here’s why (this is a reblog of my reply:) Pure commoditisation - which ultimately, is what needs micropayment - is almost the exact opposite of microphilanthropy! It leads to donation requests [...] ... Source: studiodaily.com --- 1 day ago
